We're looking for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to serve as a trusted advisor and strategic leader supporting three manufacturing plants and a distribution center. Summary

Manages and coordinates certain human resources functions including, but not limited to timekeeping and payroll, human resources information system (HRIS), wellness programs, and ancillary functions. Assists Human Resources Director with matters affecting other human resources areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

(TIMEKEEPING, PAYROLL, HRIS)

  • Oversees payroll and timekeeping processes. Assures that timekeeping system is operating properly. Assures that payroll runs accurately and on time each week.
  • Staffs and supervises Timekeeping function. Trains new timekeepers. Must be available to work both day and/or night shift when necessary for training. Trains timekeepers in all programs relating to timekeeping and other PC skills as necessary. Determines training needs for each trainee and develops manuals and guides as needed. Coordinates "refresher" and update training for timekeepers.
  • Completes regular and random audits of each department as needed to ensure correct information is being recorded and that fraud is not occurring within the system.
  • Assists Timekeepers/Clerks on day and night shift with troubleshooting, auditing, etc. as needed.
  • Performs repairs or replace time clocks when necessary.
  • Performs tasks to repair system as necessary.
  • Assures garnishments, levies and other payroll deductions are handled properly.
  • Oversees Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software. Monitors and maintains HRIS system and assures it is operating properly. Provides a variety of standard and complex reports associated with HR information. Supervises Human Resources Clerks.
  • Makes master file changes for exempt employees and staff members as needed.
  • Oversees database management: design and writes databases as necessary using a variety of software.
  • Maintains a Family and Medical Leave use data base. Tracks and monitosr employees who are out on FMLA. Uses database to generate reports as needed.
  • Maintains an Americans with Disabilities database to maintain a record of the company's current accommodations for employees covered under ADA.
  • Uses HRIS system to pull information for Affirmative Action reporting, wage surveys, Vets 100 Form and other reporting requirements.

(GENERAL HUMAN RESOURCES)

  • Performs complicated and confidential duties associated with the department.
  • Assists Human Resources Director in advising and counseling Supervisors in handling grievances, resolving policy questions, handling problems, administering discipline, and other areas as needed. Receives and acts on employee issues. Handles employee grievances, problems and concerns promptly, thoroughly and fairly, in accordance with Company policies/procedures/precedents and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Undertakes HR projects which require the use of extensive planning and research data. Completes or contributes significantly to projects both in Human Resources and in other departments as requested by management.
  • Familiar with impact and application of federal and state regulations and compliance requirements affecting human resource functions.
  • Perform employment activity relating to regular jobs such as reference checking, arranging interviews, testing, and writing rejection letters.
  • Assists with general Human Resources activities, such as employee surveys, meetings, special events.

(SAFETY AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS)

  • With contracted Plant Nurses, oversees wellness activities and programs to benefit employees. Serves as permanent member of wellness committee.
  • Coordinate with Safety and Security Supervisor and Company Nurse regarding safety issues. Assist in modifying workstations to reduce safety hazards.
    Serves on first shift Safety Committee. Participates in Safety Committee discussions and activities.

Other Duties

(RECEPTION)

Manages reception area and switchboard functions. Staffs and supervises reception area and activities.

(VENDING AND LUNCHROOM)

Manages vending areas through outside contractors. Assures that selections are ample, prices are reasonable and service is acceptable.

Supervises main lunchroom and vending area. Staffs and supervises lunchroom area and activities.

(UNIFORMS)

Oversees uniform rental program.

(GENERAL)

  • Assists Human Resources Director with compensation projects. Performs duties including, but not limited to, collecting survey data, proposing National Position Evaluation Plan (NPEP) points for jobs and responding to salary survey information requests.
  • Maintains areas of operation in a safe and sanitary manner. Makes effective use of and makes recommendations on physical assets. Determine that established safety rules, Company policy and good housekeeping are followed.
  • Performs some duties of subordinates in absence of same.
  • Performs some duties of Human Resources Director in absence of same.
  • Participates in community relations activities, civic and professional organizations.
  • Coordinates with other departments to assure cooperation and timely completion of projects.
  • Operates own or company vehicle in performance of some job duties.
  • Uses personal computer in performance of many job tasks.
  • Ensures proper selection, training, evaluation, and discipline of and communication with employees.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requires broad educational and technical knowledge, equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field. Excellent oral and written communication skills, project and employee management skills, organizational skills and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and trends required. Strong knowledge of personal computers and related software programs required. National certification preferred. Must speak, read and write in English. Conversational Spanish a plus.

Must demonstrate aptitude to manage people, set example by own conduct and work habits, make prompt and competent decisions, use authority wisely and maintain discipline, morale and teamwork at high standard.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Human Resources Clerks, Telephone Operator/Receptionist, Timekeepers, Lunchroom Attendant.

Machines, Equipment, Tools Used

Personal computer, standard office equipment, own or company vehicle.

Physical Demands

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with the fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make find discriminations in sound.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures: transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Regular office conditions. Access to CONFIDENTIAL DATA including wages and official confidential records and reports.
