POSITION SUMMARY

The teacher facilitates engaging, standards-aligned instruction in core subjects Math, Science, History, and English while maintaining a structured and inclusive classroom environment. Additionally, working under supervision in a psychiatric setting, the instructor maintains high vigilance to provide a therapeutic, recovery-oriented milieu, observing patient activities, supporting individualized care plans, and minimizing safety risks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum Implementation & Activity Design:

• Utilize accredited online curriculum to plan and deliver effective instruction
• Design and adapt engaging learning activities that reinforce curriculum objectives
• Modify instructional materials to support diverse learning styles and needs
• Integrate multimedia, discussions, and interactive tools to enhance engagement (including during the school year and holiday breaks/special programming)

Differentiated Instruction:

• Provide differentiated learning experiences to meet the academic and developmental needs of all students, including one-to-one and/or small group instruction.
• Adjust content, pacing, and instructional strategies based on student data and performance
• Support students requiring additional assistance as well as those needing enrichment opportunities

Student Support & Progress Monitoring:

• Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement
• Monitor student performance and engagement in the virtual environment
• Document student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement regularly
• Use data to inform instructional decisions and intervention strategies

Collaboration & Teamwork:

• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team (e.g., teachers, support staff, therapists, administrators)
• Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development activities
• Share insights and strategies to support student success and program improvement

Communication:

• Maintain consistent communication with students, school staff, and support staff
• Provide updates on student progress, performance, and concerns
• Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner

Medical Records and Confidential Communication:

• Appropriately considers the sensitivity and confidentiality of medical/psychiatric information along with the need-to-know before sharing information with others.
• Medical records entries are legible, errors minimized, timely completed, and include signature with professional designation. Users of computer aided records should not share passwords and signoff to reduce unauthorized utilization.
• Medical records of deficiencies are minimized, and when identified, corrected as soon as practical.

Skills:

Education / Licensure:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a related field. A valid Educator license, including a Standard Teacher license, Substitute Teacher license, or Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL), issued by the Nevada Department of Education.

Additional Requirements: Timely renewal of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), annual TB checks, and Handle with Care (HWC) certification.
