Surgical Technologist
Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303
$26.50 - $39.75 an hour — Full Time, days. 40 hours a week. (10s/12s variable days)
Weekends Included - +$2.50/hr. weekend differential
Boulder Community Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist who assists the registered nurse in the intra-operative care of the surgical patient by the performance of routine and delegated duties according to the policies and procedures of Boulder Community Hospital.

Qualifications
•Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology, OR
•Graduate of a School of Nursing with one year experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting, OR
•Former training in a military or surgical setting
•Colorado Registration is required
•Certification preferred
•BLS certification required
•One to two years experience in an acute care setting preferred
Responsibilities
•Responsible for precepting students and new team employees.
•Provide expertise and be a resource for other team members.
•Competently scrubs all complex: Thoracotomy, Advanced Laparoscopic(Nissen, VATS) Carotids/AV graft, LAVH, Mastectomy with reconstruction, Microdisc/Lami, ACD, Shoulder scopes, ACL, Ortho Fractures (TFN/IM rodding, plating), Vaginal sling with meth, Maxillofacial fractures, Panendoscopy.
•Advanced skills in at least one of the following:
a. Laser Operator
b. Cell Saver Operator
c. Set-up and priming of ICP monitor
d. Identification and assembly of instruments for all stealth applications
e. Set-up of invasive monitor lines and blood warmers
•Take an active role under the direction of the service coordinator for at least one of the following:
a. Monitoring quality improvement
b. Monitoring par levels of supplies in their specialty service
c. Ordering specialty equipment and supplies by reviewing future scheduled procedures as assigned by the service coordinator.
d. Active participation in one departmental committee
•Maintaining computerized doctor preference cards
•Teach at least 2 round robin in-services for equipment or procedures each year, using the round robin sign in sheet as documentation.
•Demonstrates knowledge in the care and handling of instruments, sutures, and other operating room equipment to decrease damage and promote longer equipment life.
•Demonstrate knowledge of principles of surgical asepsis.
•Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by preparing and passing of instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed during the operative procedure.
