Indirect Tax and Technology Manager

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Indirect Tax and Technology Manager in United States.

In this role, you will operate at the intersection of indirect tax, data, and technology transformation within a fast-scaling global business. You will lead initiatives that modernize and automate indirect tax processes, ensuring compliance while driving operational efficiency across systems, data flows, and reporting architectures. Acting as a key bridge between tax, finance systems, engineering, and business teams, you will help shape scalable tax solutions that support global expansion and evolving go-to-market models. This position is highly strategic and hands-on, with responsibility for both system design and process optimization. You will also evaluate emerging tax technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve accuracy and reduce manual effort. The environment is collaborative, cross-functional, and focused on building future-ready tax infrastructure.

Accountabilities

You will lead the transformation of indirect tax operations by designing scalable systems, improving data governance, and embedding automation across tax processes. You will partner closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure tax requirements are fully integrated into business and technology workflows. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the selection, implementation, and optimization of indirect tax technologies supporting compliance, reporting, and determination processes.
  • Driving tax data governance initiatives to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across ERP, billing, and reporting systems.
  • Partnering with Finance Systems, Engineering, and Product teams to embed indirect tax requirements into quote-to-cash, procurement, and billing workflows.
  • Overseeing automation of indirect tax processes, including return preparation, reconciliation, validation, and submission activities.
  • Acting as a key advisor on indirect tax implications for product launches, GTM initiatives, and business transformation projects.
  • Monitoring global regulatory changes (VAT, GST, e-invoicing, CTC, SAF-T) and ensuring systems remain compliant and scalable.
  • Evaluating and implementing AI-driven tax technologies and analytics tools to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Supporting audit readiness, tax compliance, and controversy management through robust systems and controls.
Requirements

The ideal candidate combines strong indirect tax expertise with deep experience in tax technology, data systems, and cross-functional transformation. You are comfortable translating regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions and leading complex global initiatives. Key qualifications include:

  • 6+ years of experience in indirect tax technology, tax operations, or a related transformation-focused role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CTA, ACCA, or equivalent (depending on jurisdiction).
  • Strong knowledge of global indirect tax regimes including VAT, GST, sales tax, e-invoicing, CTC, and SAF-T requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE) and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities, including experience with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, Looker, Alteryx).
  • Experience with automation, AI-enabled tax tools, or process optimization initiatives in a finance or tax environment.
  • Familiarity with systems integration concepts such as APIs, middleware, and interconnected finance ecosystems.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Flexible work environment supporting remote collaboration.
  • Retirement savings plan (401k) with company contributions.
  • Generous paid time off, holidays, and flexible leave policies.
  • Access to professional development programs and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Exposure to advanced tax technologies and large-scale global transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven environment focused on automation and scalability.
