Lone Mountain Land Company (“LMLC”) is a subsidiary of CrossHarbor Capital Partners ($8.7B AUM) and is responsible for executing several long-term real estate development strategies in Southwest Montana. Big Sky has emerged as the most successful and rapidly growing resort development in the United States. CrossHarbor owns three private residential communities in Big Sky (Yellowstone Club, Spanish Peaks Mountain Club, and Moonlight Basin), several mixed-use buildings and a hotel in downtown Big Sky (“Town Center”) and created a separate investment fund dedicated to developing and acquiring workforce housing. LMLC manages all investments, development, and operations in Southwest Montana on behalf of CrossHarbor. Over time, LMLC may also undertake development projects in other areas of the United States or abroad.

Job Description:

LMLC is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join its growing headquarters in Big Sky, Montana and serve as an integral part of the team. This position will have a wide variety of responsibilities working with our real estate investment, asset management and development teams on several different asset classes including residential, private club, and hospitality projects. Candidates are expected to be highly analytical and have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Key job responsibilities are outlined below.

  • Create detailed development budgets and coordinate with construction, accounting, and finance teams to (i) update living budget and asset management model on a monthly basis to evaluate asset performance and ensure projects are executed timely and in accordance with business plan, (ii) prepare financial forecasts and evaluate the impact on the overall portfolio and (iii) submit construction draw requests to lenders.
  • Analysis, structuring, and management of long-term business plans for decision-making purposes (development modeling, product design, financing decisions, etc.)
  • Support asset management team with regular review of operating assets and annual forecasting
  • Conduct due diligence on potential acquisitions, or new developments, which includes evaluating financial and physical feasibility of potential development sites (market research, feasibility analysis, cost analysis etc.) and creating comprehensive investment packages and offering memorandums to support the investment thesis.
  • Update various investor reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Conduct general market research (comparable sale transactions) to identify market trends and opportunities while tracking comparable development projects.
  • Assist in creating and providing documentation and support for internal and external audits and reviews.
  • Clearly present all work and findings (primarily in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and verbally) and make recommendations to management team.
  • Have the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and manage time/resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes

Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, development or finance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to take responsibility for quality of work with limited oversight
  • Intellectual curiosity and good judgment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of the financial accounting process
  • The confidence and creativity to tackle complex analytical tasks even when such tasks are “outside the box” or conceptually novel

Location: Big Sky, Montana

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related fields as required
  • Additional related experience would be considered in lieu of a completed degree program
