Job Description
The Pinto Valley Mine (PVM) is wholly owned by Capstone Copper Company (Capstone), who purchased the mine from BHP in 2013. Capstone re-started the operation shortly after it was acquired, keeping alive the economic engine that has provided for countless families over a couple of generations and contributed significantly to the Arizona copper economy.
PVM is entering a transition period. With copper prices at an all-time high and a strong long term market outlook, the opportunity for PVM to expand its operations footprint in the Globe-Miami region is significant. Whether alone or with partners, it is a given that PVM will be taking its next growth step in 3-5 years. This growth step will mean significant change for PVM and its host community, the Globe-Miami region. The change will also be an important feature on the landscape of Arizona's copper mining community and the Arizona economy.
To prepare for a successful business transition, PVM is seeking a communications and media professional to become a part of our team and to help us create the future. This individual will have the opportunity to make a big difference both inside and outside our organization. Internally - the person will serve as the communications hub - managing the flow of important communications from the Senior Leadership Team to employees, as well as serving as the collector of positive employee stories that could be used for internal and external media posts. Externally - the person will work with our media consultants to generate and publish a steady drumbeat of PVM media to build awareness and a positive digital presence for PVM. The opportunities for influence, personal and career growth in this role are significant.
The position will report to the Manager of External Relations, but will also regularly support the needs of other department Managers and will routinely interact with nearly all departments and employees at Pinto Valley. We are looking with someone who wants to make a difference in our business, who loves to interact with and work with people, and who desires to grow their career with us.
