Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The IT Superintendent provides expert advice, knowledge, and skills to oversee and ensure the availability and effectiveness of the IT Department personnel, hardware, software, networks, systems and processes. Develops strategies for and implements systems and system changes.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    Ensure that all employees and contractors are certified to execute the tasks/jobs they are assigned.Provides leadership, mentoring, expertise, and direction for IT team member activities to ensure plans and goals are safely achieved.Ensures work is conducted safely and in accordance with schedules and plans by competent personnel in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, standards, and procedures.Lead IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and servicesDefine IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processesAnalyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needsAssess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and softwareIn collaboration with Corporate IT, develops tactical and strategic plans.Ensure security of data, network access and backup systemsAudits training, systems, and processes to ensure qualityBehave in a way that demonstrates support of Capstone’s Vision and Values: Always Accountable, Execute with Excellence, Deliver Results and Work ResponsiblyResponsible for but not limited to all tasks/duties assigned or requiredPlan, coordinate, maintain, support and keep aligned to Capstone’s standards the technological solutions in use and/or planned to be used at PV, including, but not limited to cybersecurity, communications, automation, business continuity, supporting process control and Mine solution.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

    Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or other relevant degree and / or related experience required.
    10+ years of experience in IT, systems, projects & infrastructure within mining, heavy industry, or industrial operations
    5+ years of experience in supervisory role, managing 2-5 direct reports

Preferred

A strong understanding of computer hardware and software, including how to install, configure, and troubleshoot a variety of hardware and software products.A good understanding of networking and connectivity, including how to troubleshoot network issues and troubleshoot connectivity problems.Excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide technical assistance.Strong project management skills and be able to manage and coordinate the work of the IT support team to ensure timely and effective delivery of support services.Experience managing budgets and resources of the IT department, including planning and allocating resources effectively.Experience leading and managing a team and be able to provide guidance and support to team members to help them succeed in their roles.Able to develop and implement long-term IT strategies that align with the goals of the organization.Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure that the organization is receiving high-quality IT services at a reasonable cost.Experience with safely managing, maintaining, installing, testing and troubleshooting computers, server, software, printers and networks. Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systemsStrong critical thinking and decision-making skillsStrong proficiency with Network, LAN, VLAN, WAN, Fortinet, NetApp, Windows Server, VMWare, AD, DNS, Azure, Office365 Admin, SecurityFirm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check.
