Burloak Technologies works with the most innovative companies in the space, aerospace, automotive and industrial markets to rapidly transition their most challenging part designs to be additively manufactured at scale.

Position Summary:

The Additive Manufacturing (AM) Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining advanced additive manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality components in accordance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, and AS9100 quality standards. This role performs build preparation, machine setup, powder handling, routine equipment maintenance, and in-process inspections while ensuring production schedules are met safely and efficiently. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams, the Additive Manufacturing Technician supports continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoots equipment and process issues, and maintains accurate production documentation. This position plays a key role in delivering precision metal and polymer components for the aerospace, space, automotive, and industrial sectors while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Additive Manufacturing Operations

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain additive manufacturing systems including LPBF, EBeam, SLS, and FDM equipment to ensure consistent production quality and on-time part delivery.
  • Execute build preparation activities including file review, build layout, machine setup, and parameter verification prior to each production run.
  • Monitor active builds and respond appropriately when process anomalies or equipment alerts are identified.
  • Support powder handling operations including sieving, loading, recovery, and safe storage in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to support daily additive operations and ensure production priorities are met.

Equipment Maintenance and Uptime

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on additive manufacturing systems and ancillary equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and sustain production readiness.
  • Identify and communicate operational issues proactively to supervisors and teammates, documenting observations to support root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues on the shop floor, escalating as required to engineering or OEM service teams.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, consumable levels, and general machine health in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and internal maintenance schedules.

Quality and Process Discipline

  • Adhere to AS9100 quality processes and comply with internal work instructions, documentation requirements, and quality standards at all stages of production.
  • Maintain accurate and complete production records including build logs, maintenance entries, and inspection documentation.
  • Use precision measurement tools such as vernier calipers and micrometers to support in-process and post-build inspection activities.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and enhance the reliability and output of additive manufacturing operations.

Workplace Safety and Organization

  • Support and actively contribute to a clean, organized, and safe working environment that reflects the standards of an advanced manufacturing facility.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols applicable to additive manufacturing environments, including powder handling, PPE requirements, and equipment lockout procedures.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards promptly and reinforce safe operating practices with fellow team members.

Professional Attributes and Team Contribution

  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to support daily additive manufacturing operations, contributing actively to shift handovers, team meetings, and production planning discussions.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners including quality and engineering, ensuring continuity and alignment across shifts.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and skill development, actively seeking opportunities to expand technical knowledge of additive manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Maintain a high standard for safety, quality, and workmanship in every aspect of daily work, uphold company policies and expectations, and encourage the same from fellow team members.
Requirements:
