The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for keeping all equipment running in good working order through preventative maintenance, repair and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong industrial electrical, PLC, and SCADA troubleshooting capabilities, along with hands-on mechanical and millwright support, including plumbing systems and general equipment maintenance.

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for keeping all equipment running in good working order through preventative maintenance, repair and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong industrial electrical, PLC, and SCADA troubleshooting capabilities, along with hands-on mechanical and millwright support, including plumbing systems and general equipment maintenance.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Work as part of a team to install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment.
- Routinely perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, drives, sensors, control panels, VFDs, relays, and machine controls.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Program, modify, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems, primarily Allen-Bradley platforms.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support SCADA systems and industrial automation networks.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to improve reliability.
- Support millwright functions including equipment installation, alignment, adjustments, bearing replacement, conveyor repairs, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Perform plumbing-related maintenance and repairs on plant systems and equipment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records.
- Direct and train other workers and apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
- Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial, and federal safety regulations, codes, and specifications.
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times.
- Responsible to follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Can Art Company Policies
- Must have 442A Industrial Electrician license. May consider a 309A with strong industrial manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 3 years of electrician experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial automation systems, preferably Allen-Bradley.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems, industrial communication networks, and automation controls.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including motor controls, VFDs, sensors, relays, control devices, and automated equipment.
- Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Hands-on mechanical maintenance and millwright experience is an asset.
- Experience with metal processing, heavy stamping, or die casting is an asset.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Solid interpersonal skills that allow for working effectively in a diverse work environment
- Ability to take initiative on tasks and work with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Strong work ethic and positive team player attitude
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of health and safety best practices in a manufacturing environment
- Authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship is required.
