  • Senior Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Director of Mental Health to implement measurable outcomes and tactical policies.

  • Mission-Driven Influence: Build meaningful external partnerships across NYC to strengthen the continuum of care for vulnerable seniors.

📝 What You’ll Be Doing

As the Program Director for the Living in Place Program, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for services delivered to older adults. You will be responsible for staff supervision, program growth, and maintaining strict compliance with all JASA and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DoHMH) regulations. This role balances high-level administrative management with direct clinical intervention during emergencies.

You will assume full accountability for contract deliverables, clinical risk management, and the professional development of your social work team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Provide direct oversight, tactical guidance, and supervision to social work staff; identify opportunities for programmatic growth and improvement.

  • Clinical Oversight & Risk Management: Monitor cases with elevated risks, intervene directly during client emergencies, and provide short-term counseling or care coordination as needed.

  • Contract Compliance: Ensure all reports, statistical records, and contract deliverables meet internal JASA guidelines and governmental/funder regulations (DoHMH).

  • Strategic Planning: Assess problem areas, implement corrective action plans, and make recommendations to the Senior Director regarding services and measurable outcomes.

  • Partnership & Linkages: Establish and maintain robust relationships with external agencies, community partners, and stakeholders.

  • Talent Acquisition: Oversee recruitment for the program, including interviewing and recommending eligible candidates for hire.

  • Community Presence: Represent the Living in Place program at internal and external meetings, conferences, and community sites.

  • Fieldwork & Travel: Deliver direct services to clients in their homes, JASA offices, or community sites as required.

🎓 What You’ll Need

  • Education: Graduate degree in Social Work (MSW) or a related human services field.

  • Licensure: Current New York State license in Social Work (LMSW/LCSW) or Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) is required.

  • Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in mental health or aging services is preferred; proven track record of supervising social work staff.

  • Technical Skills: Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; experience performing internet-based research and navigating program-specific software.

  • Communication: Strong writing, record-keeping, and verbal communication skills; Bilingual skills are preferred.

  • Travel: Ability to travel throughout New York City as needed.

  • Core Values: A deep understanding and appreciation of how race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and individual values impact services for older adults.

JASA offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and future:

  • Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus Employee Wellness Programs and an EAP.
