This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Information Security Manager - Network Security based in the United States.
This is a strategic cybersecurity leadership role responsible for strengthening network security across a large, distributed enterprise environment.
You will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive network security program covering endpoints, branches, data centers, and critical infrastructure.
The position combines people leadership, security architecture, technology strategy, operational oversight, and major project delivery.
You will guide a team of security professionals while partnering closely with engineering, architecture, operations, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
Your expertise will help shape secure, scalable solutions and ensure the organization remains resilient against evolving cyber threats.
The role provides an opportunity to influence long-term security roadmaps while balancing innovation, operational excellence, and cost effectiveness.
This position can be performed remotely within the United States, with a hybrid option available for associates based in Newport News, Virginia.
- Lead, recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing network security team of up to six associates.
- Manage operational support for network security systems, including after-hours on-call responsibilities and ongoing service reliability.
- Develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for the network security program, aligning security capabilities with current and future business requirements.
- Provide ownership and oversight of key network security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, URL filtering, VPN solutions, and related perimeter defense technologies.
- Oversee the design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support of network security solutions across branches, data centers, endpoints, and other enterprise environments.
- Lead major network security initiatives and ensure projects are delivered effectively, securely, and in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture, delivery, and operational teams to improve security processes, procedures, and network capabilities.
- Establish and maintain strong strategic relationships with technology vendors and oversee vendor performance.
- Manage the network security budget and participate in vendor contract negotiations and commercial decisions.
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity technologies, industry trends, threats, and solutions, assessing their potential value and applicability to the organization.
- Define security requirements and contribute to technology selection and evaluation processes.
- Partner with architecture teams to develop security blueprints and technology roadmaps that support business needs while anticipating future requirements in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensure new network security deployments include appropriate operational support, documentation, runbooks, monitoring procedures, and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure team members are properly trained to assume responsibility for monitoring, engineering, routine support, and operational management of new security technologies.
- Provide cybersecurity domain expertise, effective challenge, and oversight across network security, perimeter defense, and security architecture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable organizational policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform additional responsibilities and strategic initiatives as assigned by management.
- At least 10 years of experience implementing and managing network defense technologies such as firewalls, network access control, intrusion detection and prevention systems, web application firewalls, web gateways, or proxies.
- At least 5 years of experience implementing and managing cloud network security solutions.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Zero Trust and/or Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) security architectures.
- Strong expertise across network security, perimeter defense, security architecture, and cybersecurity risk management.
- Experience providing technical leadership and strategic oversight while effectively challenging and evaluating security decisions and solutions.
- Proven people-management experience, including recruiting, hiring, coaching, developing, and motivating technical teams.
- Experience managing security budgets, vendors, contracts, and technology investments.
- Professional certifications are preferred, particularly certifications related to Palo Alto Networks, Cisco networking, or CISSP.
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and competing business requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to confidently present complex security topics to groups and senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with computers, tablets, mobile devices, and standard business productivity tools, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.
- Familiarity with project and task management platforms such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, or Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Ability to interpret site surveys, technical drawings, and related documentation to identify project and security requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of voice, data, and wireless technologies is preferred.
- Demonstrated poise, maturity, and interpersonal skills when interacting with stakeholders at all organizational levels, as well as third-party contractors and vendors.
- Estimated compensation range of $9,700 to $15,516.67 per month, depending on location, qualifications, skills, and prior experience.
