About the Role:
The Accounts Payable Analyst plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the accounts payable process to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices. This position is responsible for analyzing financial data, reconciling accounts, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support the organization's financial health. The analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies, improve process efficiencies, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. By providing detailed reporting and insights, the role contributes to informed decision-making and effective cash flow management. Ultimately, the Accounts Payable Analyst helps maintain the integrity of financial records and supports the overall accounting function within the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and internal controls.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prior experience in a corporate finance or accounting department.
- Certification such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain vendor records and communicate with vendors to address payment inquiries and resolve outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper coding and approval of invoices.
- Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports to support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to accounts payable.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and implement best practices.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Accounts Payable Analyst to accurately process and reconcile financial transactions, ensuring compliance and preventing errors. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel is essential for managing large volumes of data and generating detailed reports. Strong organizational skills help prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
