Job Description
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting a culture of safety throughout the manufacturing facility. This position serves as a resource to employees and management by assisting with safety training, inspections, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Safety Lead works closely with all departments to identify hazards, reduce workplace risks, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote a safe work environment and reinforce compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
•Conduct routine safety inspections and audits throughout the facility.
•Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and work with management to implement corrective actions.
•Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including documentation and follow-up.
•Lead or participate in safety committee meetings and safety improvement initiatives.
•Conduct and coordinate employee safety training, toolbox talks, and new hire safety orientations.
•Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry safety standards.
•Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and address non-compliance issues.
•Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and regulatory files.
•Assist in developing and updating safety procedures, work instructions, and emergency response plans.
•Support workers' compensation and return-to-work programs as directed.
•Monitor safety metrics and prepare reports for management.
•Assist with emergency preparedness drills and response activities.
•Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding safety concerns and recommendations.
•Work collaboratively with supervisors and employees to foster continuous safety improvement.
Qualifications:
•High School Diploma or GED required
Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience
•Minimum of 2-5 years of manufacturing, industrial, or safety-related experience.
•Prior experience leading safety initiatives in a manufacturing environment preferred.
•Experience with OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety practices.
•Ability to recognize hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to influence employees and promote a positive safety culture.
•Strong organizational and documentation skills.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
•Ability to conduct training and present information effectively.
•Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee and incident information.
Physical Requirements:
•Frequent walking throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and production areas.
•Ability to stand for extended periods.
•Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access production equipment as needed.
•Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
•Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment:
•Manufacturing and production environment with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
•Frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, and management.
•May require occasional work outside normal business hours to support safety initiatives, investigations, or training.
