Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. As Senior Accountant you will be responsible for hands on day-to-day review of processed accounts payables/receivables, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing/reviewing account reconciliations and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This role is well suited for an accounting professional with 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working towards the improvement of process and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the controller, prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Assist the accounts payable team to process a large volume of transactions
  • Full cycle, month-end, and quarter-end reporting.
  • Aiding in the year-end closing activities.
  • Manage regulatory fillings such as GST, PST, WCB
  • Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis as required
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Support inventory accounting and related reconciliations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows and system efficiencies.
  • Complete ad hoc and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end closing activities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet defined deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in a retail environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience using ERP/accounting systems with Microsoft 365 Business Central, preferred.
  • Working towards a CPA designation would be an asset
