Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. As Senior Accountant you will be responsible for hands on day-to-day review of processed accounts payables/receivables, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing/reviewing account reconciliations and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This role is well suited for an accounting professional with 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working towards the improvement of process and systems.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the controller, prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Assist the accounts payable team to process a large volume of transactions
- Full cycle, month-end, and quarter-end reporting.
- Aiding in the year-end closing activities.
- Manage regulatory fillings such as GST, PST, WCB
- Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis as required
- Bank Reconciliations
- Support inventory accounting and related reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows and system efficiencies.
- Complete ad hoc and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end closing activities.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet defined deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in a retail environment is considered a strong asset.
- Experience using ERP/accounting systems with Microsoft 365 Business Central, preferred.
- Working towards a CPA designation would be an asset
