Director, Head of Editorial & Content

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Head of Editorial & Content based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to build the editorial and content engine for a rapidly evolving robotics category.
You will establish a distinctive, authoritative voice around humanoid robotics, the future of physical work, and large-scale technology deployment.
The role combines editorial strategy, storytelling, audience growth, digital publishing, and cross-channel content leadership.
You’ll translate complex technical innovations into compelling stories for industry leaders, customers, media, investors, and broader audiences.
As a builder and team leader, you’ll develop the people, processes, partnerships, and AI-enabled workflows behind a high-performing publishing operation.
The environment rewards strong editorial judgment, experimentation, speed, and the ability to turn emerging technology into meaningful narratives.
Your work will help shape market perception and establish a trusted source of insight in one of the most transformative technology categories.

Accountabilities
  • Define and execute a global editorial strategy that establishes the organization as a trusted authority on humanoid robotics, the future of physical labor, and large-scale technology deployment.
  • Build an engaging digital publishing destination across owned channels, working closely with creative and marketing teams to increase audience retention and repeat engagement.
  • Translate sophisticated technical concepts, breakthroughs, and industry developments into clear, compelling stories for audiences ranging from technical experts to the general public.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal subject-matter experts, customers, consultants, partners, suppliers, and other external contributors to uncover differentiated insights and story opportunities.
  • Lead the creation and publication of diverse content formats, including long-form articles, technical explainers, customer stories, newsletters, short-form content, video, audio, and industry reports.
  • Coordinate cross-channel content distribution with Creative, Communications, Demand Generation, and Product Marketing teams, ensuring stories are optimized for web, social, video, podcasts, media, and customer-facing channels.
  • Develop AI-assisted editorial workflows that improve research, production, personalization, and distribution while maintaining high standards for human judgment, originality, accuracy, and brand voice.
  • Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of content strategists, writers, editors, social specialists, and creatives while effectively leveraging freelance and external production resources.
  • Establish meaningful editorial and audience metrics, maintain reporting cadences, run optimization experiments, and use performance insights to guide future content priorities.
  • Create a consistent publishing rhythm that combines newsroom-style agility with strategic brand and commercial priorities.
  • Shape broader industry conversations through distinctive, timely, and authoritative storytelling that drives media interest, audience growth, engagement, and industry recognition.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of editorial leadership experience, ideally leading an in-house editorial organization within a technology company where content is treated as a product or within a modern media or technology publication.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling an editorial or content function from the ground up, including establishing processes, managing contributors, and maintaining a high publishing cadence.
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and a strong instinct for identifying stories that are genuinely interesting, credible, timely, and newsworthy rather than generic corporate messaging.
  • Strong reporting and storytelling capabilities, with the ability to investigate complex subjects, identify the core insight, and turn technical material into engaging narratives.
  • High technical fluency and the ability to understand and communicate sophisticated technology concepts to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
  • Proven expertise across modern content ecosystems, including websites, newsletters, social platforms, video, audio, and content distribution strategies.
  • Experience packaging and adapting content for different channels to maximize reach, engagement, audience growth, and commercial impact.
  • Practical understanding of AI-assisted content workflows, with the ability to use emerging tools to increase editorial efficiency without becoming overly dependent on them or compromising quality.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to create structure, establish clarity, and keep teams focused in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across creative, technical, marketing, communications, and business functions.
  • A proactive ownership mindset, demonstrated by identifying opportunities, taking initiative, following through on commitments, and adapting effectively as priorities and industry conditions evolve.
  • Experience managing freelance writers, external creative contributors, production partners, or other flexible editorial resources.
  • A data-informed approach to content strategy, including defining success metrics, analyzing performance, and using insights to improve future initiatives.
  • Passion for emerging technology and the ability to operate comfortably in an evolving industry where new ideas, formats, and narratives are constantly developing.
Benefits
  • Anticipated base salary range of $171,000–$268,000 USD, with final compensation determined by factors such as geographic location, relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Fully remote position within the United States, with hybrid work available for candidates within commuting distance of offices in Salem, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Fremont, California.
  • Company stock options as part of the total compensation package.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 6% company match.
  • 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability insurance for employees.
  • Benefits eligibility beginning on the first day of employment.
  • Employee Assistance Program and broader well-being resources.
  • Flexible, unlimited PTO for exempt employees, plus 12 company holidays and a winter shutdown.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave for non-exempt employees, plus 12 company holidays and a winter shutdown.
  • Generous paid parental leave programs.
  • Professional development and tuition reimbursement opportunities.
  • Flexible work arrangements designed to support different working styles and needs.
  • Catered lunches four days per week, along with healthy snacks and refreshments at eligible office locations.
  • Relocation assistance for eligible positions.
  • Annual discretionary bonus opportunities for eligible roles.
  • Opportunities for meaningful professional growth within a rapidly evolving technology environment.
  • Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.
  • Equal employment opportunities are provided without discrimination or harassment based on protected characteristics under applicable law.
