Job Description

Description:

Clinical Trials Manager (NP or PA)

Move from clinical practice into research leadership

Location: Shreveport, LA (standard medical office; some local travel)

Type: Full-time · Exempt · Reports to Principal/President

Who it's for: Experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants — prior research experience NOT required

Put your clinical expertise to its highest use

Are you a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who's ready to lead — and curious about clinical research? You don't need research experience to step into this role. If you have strong clinical judgment and the ability to lead a team, we'll train you on the research side and sponsor your certification. As our Clinical Trials Manager, your clinical skills go exactly where they matter most: assessing adverse events, performing protocol exams, and leading the coordinators who run our spine device trials.

SAON is an international clinical research network with 80+ years of research leadership and 100+ completed studies. This is the clinical and operational leadership seat at our Shreveport site.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the clinical expert on adverse events — assess and determine causality for AEs, SAEs, and device effects.
  • Perform neurological and physical exams, labs, ECGs, and other study procedures per protocol.
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of clinical research coordinators and assistants.
  • Own research quality: protocol compliance, documentation checks, and audit and sponsor-visit readiness.
  • Guide study start-up and act as the clinical liaison to physicians, sponsors, and device partners.
  • Learn — with our support — the research operations side: CTMS, regulatory/eReg, feasibility, and study build.

A quick note on fit: this role is a strong match if you're energized by leading a team, safeguarding research subjects with your clinical judgment, and getting the details right — and ready to learn the regulatory and administrative side. It's a tougher fit if what you most want is full-time autonomous patient care. We're happy to talk candidly about that.

What we're looking for

  • Active NP or PA license (Louisiana, or eligible) and strong clinical judgment.
  • Leadership ability — experience leading or training others, or clear readiness to.
  • Coachability — eagerness to learn an entirely new field and be taught by experienced research staff.
  • Precision and integrity — you get details and documentation exactly right, every time.
  • Real interest in the leadership and quality side of research, not only patient care — much of this role is oversight, compliance, and process.
  • Comfort with computers, tablets, and contemporaneous documentation — Microsoft Office; EMR/PACS familiarity

Why SAON

  • We train you on research and sponsor your professional certification.
  • A leadership role with real ownership and a clinical mission that matters.
  • Predictable weekday schedule — a change of pace from full-time clinical practice.

Benefits & Perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employer-paid basic life and AD&D insurance
  • Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Voluntary supplemental life insurance options
  • 401(k) retirement plan with automatic enrollment
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • 7.5 paid company holidays
  • 2 floating holidays annually after 90 days of employment
  • Access to select domestic network healthcare services at no cost
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits start 1st of the month following 30 days of employment
Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Required: NP or PA with appropriate state licensure; 3+ years of clinical practice.
  • Preferred (or we'll help you build it): clinical research experience and CCRC / ACRP / CCRP certification — obtainable within 12 months with company sponsorship.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future. SAON is not able to provide employment visa sponsorship for this position.
