Job Description

Compensation & Total Rewards

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Compensation & Total Rewards professional based in Canada.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape global compensation and total rewards strategy within a rapidly scaling, AI-focused technology environment.
You will own compensation architecture and help build systems that remain competitive across diverse international talent markets.
The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on design across pay, equity, incentives, job architecture, leveling, and benefits.
You will partner closely with senior leaders across People, Operations, Finance, and Legal to guide complex compensation decisions.
As the organization expands across numerous countries and role types, you will bring structure, consistency, and scalability without unnecessary bureaucracy.
You will also introduce data-driven and AI-enabled approaches to improve compensation processes, governance, and decision-making.
This is an ideal role for a builder who enjoys ambiguity, high ownership, and solving complex global rewards challenges at speed.

Accountabilities
  • Own and continuously evolve the global compensation philosophy, ensuring pay, equity, and incentive programs support attraction, retention, performance, internal equity, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Design and maintain scalable compensation structures, including job architecture, leveling frameworks, global compensation bands, and decision-making principles across diverse functions and markets.
  • Lead the development and governance of equity and long-term incentive programs, including grant strategies, refresh cycles, promotion grants, and partnership with Finance and Legal on program design.
  • Support annual compensation review cycles end-to-end while establishing clear frameworks for off-cycle decisions, calibration, approvals, and pay consistency.
  • Serve as a senior advisor and escalation point for complex compensation, leveling, and pay-equity decisions, providing clear recommendations grounded in market data and business priorities.
  • Build scalable compensation tooling, processes, and governance that introduce rigor while preserving speed and flexibility in a high-growth environment.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve the efficiency, consistency, and quality of compensation workflows and decision-making.
  • Own the global benefits and total rewards strategy, balancing competitive offerings with regional requirements, operational scalability, and sustainable cost management.
  • Partner closely with Operations, People, Finance, Legal, and senior leadership to align rewards strategy with organizational growth and evolving business needs.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional experience in compensation, total rewards, or a closely related discipline, ideally within a high-growth technology company operating across multiple countries.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or significantly contributing to equity and long-term incentive programs.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and evolve compensation systems that can scale with rapid organizational growth.
  • Strong experience developing job architectures, leveling frameworks, compensation bands, and related governance structures.
  • Experience working effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where systems and processes may need to be built or redesigned from the ground up.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex compensation data and translate findings into practical, strategic recommendations.
  • A first-principles approach to problem solving, with the ability to challenge assumptions and develop thoughtful solutions to complex rewards challenges.
  • Hands-on, builder-oriented mindset with a willingness to take ownership from strategy through implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence partnering with senior leaders and navigating sensitive, high-impact decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex compensation concepts clear and actionable.
  • High standards, strong judgment, and a demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability.
Benefits
  • Remote-first working environment with a globally distributed team and a focus on talent rather than location.
  • Opportunity to shape compensation and total rewards strategy within a rapidly scaling, AI-focused technology environment.
  • Annual discretionary professional development stipend to support learning and career growth.
  • Annual discretionary stipend to support in-person connection and social travel with colleagues.
  • Annual company-wide offsite, with previous gatherings held in international destinations.
  • Monthly coworking stipend for employees who are not located near a primary company hub.
  • High-autonomy culture with rapid experimentation, lean teams, and minimal bureaucracy.
  • Opportunities to work alongside researchers, engineers, operators, creatives, and other specialists working at the forefront of AI.
  • Equal opportunity workplace committed to an inclusive environment free from discrimination based on legally protected characteristics.
  • Benefits and eligibility may vary based on employment location and employment terms.
