I. POSITION SUMMARY
The Grants Manager implements a comprehensive institutional fundraising plan that aligns with Women’s Advocates’ strategic plan. This position is responsible for all aspects of each grant before it is awarded, including prospecting, soliciting grants, attending informational meetings, writing the grant or assigning the grant to contract grant writers or other employees, managing edits and revisions to grants, managing everything related to grant portals, completing due diligence for grants including maintaining files with up-to-date common grant attachments. This position also circulates grants for a multi-stage editing process, working with finance to secure a final budget for the grant, entering all grant information into grant portals cleanly and correctly, submitting grants, tracking grants through the review process, as well as tracking grant awards, rejections, and denials.
This position is full-time, with a requirement for 3 days in office each week. The other two days may be work from home. This position is eliegible for benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 403b retirement plan and more. The budgeted pay range for this position is: $75,000 - $87,000 annually.
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Writes and manages state, federal, county, foundational, and city grants.
- Prepares and submits proposals and reports in accordance with RFPs and requirements of public and private funding sources.
- Develops narrative proposals based on information from program staff, information from previous proposals, input from the Survivor Advisory Council, and data from publications and research.
- Communicates with the Development Director, the Director of Finance, and the Executive Director about new grant opportunities, grant renewals, and status of existing grant proposals.
- Collaborates with Programs staff to complete progress reports and work plan updates or changes. Tracks and maintains program data, outcomes, and performance metrics.
- Reviews data collection and understands the reporting systems and evaluation processes administered by the Data & Grants Compliance Manager.
- Maintains a list of current funding sources and contact information of grant administrators and keeps in regular contact in collaboration with Director of Development.
- Maintains grant records, due diligence materials, and audit documentation.
- Collaborates with staff to support funding needs.
- Attends monthly meetings of the Development team to share status updates.
- Attends meetings of the Development Committee of the Women’s Advocates’ Board of Directors and creates and submits a monthly grant report for the monthly development report reviewed by the board.
- Manages writing and data material for the annual report annual report each year for the team collaboration of the annual report alongside the Data & Grants Compliance Manager, Communications Manager, and Director of Development.
- Completes other writing projects as assigned.
III. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible grant writing and grants management experience, with a demonstrated track record of securing and managing competitive grant funding.
- Demonstrated experience researching, writing, and submitting successful proposals to federal, state, local, corporate, and private foundation funders.
- Experience developing and managing grants that support housing stability, homelessness prevention, domestic violence housing programs, supportive housing, rapid rehousing, emergency shelter, or other housing-related services.
- Strong knowledge of housing and human services funding streams, including government and private funding opportunities that support survivors of domestic violence and their families.
- Experience coordinating grant reporting, compliance, and stewardship activities to ensure fulfillment of funder requirements and maintenance of strong funder relationships.
- Familiarity with domestic violence, trauma-informed services, victim confidentiality requirements, and the cycle of abuse.
- Knowledge of and commitment to Women's Advocates' mission, vision, values, and program offerings.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple funding opportunities, deadlines, reporting requirements, and cross-functional projects simultaneously. This includes connecting with other staff as needed in a timely manner to ensure information is received in plenty of time to write, revise and meet all deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to develop compelling narratives, clearly communicate organizational impact, and translate program outcomes into persuasive funding proposals.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, critical-thinking, organizational, and technology skills.
- Experience collaborating with program, finance, data, and leadership teams to gather information, develop grant strategies, and ensure successful proposal submission and grant implementation.
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively prioritize multiple assignments.
- Experience working in a mission-driven, community-based organization serving diverse populations.
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully across differences.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend events, meetings, or funder-related activities.

- Must be able to safely navigate multiple stairways throughout the workday to access work areas and perform essential job duties.
