Job Summary/Objective

The Supervisor, Production is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of production operations and production staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate fulfillment of patient prescriptions and client programs. This role provides direct leadership, coaching, and development of production technicians while promoting a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and operations excellence.

The Supervisor, Production partners closely with Production Pharmacy leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve productivity targets, quality adherence, service standards, and compliance objectives. This position monitors operational performance, supports staff training and development, identifies process improvement opportunities, and helps ensure all production activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily workflow execution across assigned production areas, including staffing alignment, queue prioritization, workload balancing, and timely escalation of operational barriers that may affect production output, service levels, or patient order fulfillment.
  • Manage and provide support for Productions operations, including, but not limited to, picking, packing, or manifesting and addressing pharmacy system issues. Follow-up on errors and technical issues, and any other items related to the production floor.
  • Manage a team of production technicians by focusing on daily coaching, teaching and feedback to develop a high performing team.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, production volumes, and operational demands while maintaining productivity, quality, and service standards in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Production Leader to provide necessary updates regarding production volume, staffing needs, shipping delays, workflow barriers, and operational concerns.
  • Partner with production leaders and teams to problem solve pharmacy system issues. This can be related to shipping, errors, processing, etc.
  • Coordinate with appropriate teams to ensure required supplies, materials, equipment, and production resources are available to support daily operations and minimize avoidable delays.
  • Report daily, weekly and monthly results related to production activities including productivity and quality metrics to Production Leadership.
  • Support the development and implementation of an ongoing training plan for the Production Team.
  • Complete and submit payroll information for direct reports on a timely basis per pay period.
  • Promote and develop process enhancements and solutions to maximize department efficiencies. This may include working closely or collaborating with other departments.
  • Support performance management activities for direct reports, including setting expectations, documenting coaching conversations, addressing attendance or conduct concerns, and partnering with Human Resources and leadership when formal corrective action is needed.
  • Ensure production activities are performed in accordance with company policies, standard operating procedures, Board of Pharmacy requirements, HIPAA, safety expectations, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and inspection-ready production environment by reinforcing safety practices, reporting hazards, supporting housekeeping expectations, and ensuring team members follow established workplace standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with both internal and external customers.
  • Supports proper execution of GMP inventory control practices. At times this would require oversite of tactical inventory functions such as Cycle Counts, Expiration Date Monitoring, Restocking, Receiving and proper scanning of product through its life cycle in our pharmacy.
  • Additional Duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years in a people leader position
  • 2+ years in a fast paced, metrics driven pharmacy and production environment
  • Strong communication (verbale and written) and organizational skills
  • Ability to create high performing teams through training and accountability
  • Maintain composure and professionalism during period of high volume or operational change
  • Ability to produce basic reporting analytics and navigate systems reporting l
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology systems and software quickly.
  • Experience working with barcode scanning technology, shipping software, and automated production systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with acute attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving / analytical skills
  • Ability to flex schedule based upon work and volume demands
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of this position are in keeping with general office functions: sitting, using a computer, keyboard, telephone, etc.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 35 lbs.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
