Job Title: Senior C&S Designer III
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Lead Civil and Structural Designer
Location: Houston, Texas
Summary:
A Senior C&S Designer III (SD III) is responsible for developing initial layouts, overseeing revisions of existing computer aided design (CAD) files, providing technical assistance to the project team, and creating/manipulating drawings from conceptual markups or verbal instructions to the Company’s or Client’s requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently create and modify drawings and 3D models, integrating designer/engineering markups and adhering to company and client standards.
- Prepare and maintain all drawings and standards in full compliance with project and company requirements.
- Perform preliminary QA/QC and checking of all drawings and 3D models.
- Ensure seamless continuity between conceptual and detailed designs.
- Assist in developing design criteria for various projects and proposals.
- Coordinate designs effectively with other disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, and GIS.
- Apply basic engineering concepts and perform calculations to support design packages.
- Guarantee high-quality deliverables and consistently meet project schedules.
- Interface with clients as needed to provide or acquire project information.
- Actively participate in drawing reviews and coordination meetings.
- Strictly follow all corporate safety protocols.
- Some travel may be required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong ability to understand, communicate and apply engineering concepts.
- Expert proficiency with CAD and other software packages in standalone configuration as well as network setups (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, CadWorx Structure, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Google Earth).
- Expert ability of modelling in a 3D environment.
- Ability to identify impact of changes on other disciplines and communicate that impact effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to organize and prioritize project workload for self and others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings, and job site visits, when required.
