Description: Position Summary

The Branch Manager I is responsible for the overall management and success of the branch, ensuring efficient operations, strong financial performance, regulatory compliance, and exceptional member service. This role involves leading and developing a motivated, well-trained staff, fostering a positive work environment, and implementing strategies to drive branch growth and community impact. The Branch Manager I reports directly to the Branch Manager II for guidance, oversight, and performance alignment.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Employee Management

· Adhere to the management code of conduct, setting a positive example for staff.

· Maintain a highly motivated and well-trained team, fostering strong employee relations.

· Monitor branch operations to ensure a professional and consistent approach to service.

· Evaluate job performance, ensuring quality work and exceptional member service.

· Take ownership of the branch schedule and staffing, ensuring adequate coverage to meet business needs and minimizing the use of rovers by utilizing branch staff when possible.

· Approve leave requests, time off, and employee timecards.

· Promptly address employee behavior that may impact staff morale and branch culture.

· Provide ongoing training and development to enhance team capabilities.

· Work with Human Resources to interview and select candidates that best meet team needs.

· Administer coaching, check-ins, and disciplinary actions as needed to develop staff.

· Provide support to other branches as directed by the Branch Manager II.

Operations & Compliance

· Apply and uphold branch policies and procedures as directed by the Branch Manager II.

· Ensure compliance with federal regulations, National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) requirements, and other regulatory agencies including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards.

· Work with staff and auditors to maintain compliance with internal controls.

· Maintain compliance with the bargaining unit contract.

· Provide feedback to the Branch Manager II on operational improvements or concerns.

Performance Monitoring & Growth

· Monitor branch and employee activity, including transactions, loan volume, teller errors, sales performance, and new accounts.

· Monitor key products and sales to ensure sound business practices and high-quality service for members.

· Implement strategies to enhance branch growth and community impact in alignment with goals set by the Branch Manager II.

· Create and maintain a cross-selling culture, training employees to identify and act on sales opportunities.

· Assist staff and members in resolving complex account problems and escalate issues to the Branch Manager II when necessary.

· Review and analyze branch-level data points to support employee effectiveness.

Security & Risk Management

· Manage the safety and security of the branch and report facility issues according to procedures.

Community Engagement

· Represent the credit union at community events to strengthen relationships and promote growth.

· Promote the credit union’s products and services to local businesses.

Self-Development

· Become proficient in all aspects of branch duties to effectively manage employees and branch operations.

· Seek out training opportunities for further development, coordinating offsite training or webinars through Human Resources to avoid duplication of efforts.

· Participate in company committees as assigned.
