The Domestic Violence Program Coordinator is a grant funded position.

Position Summary

The Domestic Violence Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of culturally responsive domestic violence prevention, advocacy, outreach, education, and training services for American Indian and Alaska Native individuals and families. This position provides trauma-informed support, facilitates community engagement and awareness activities, conducts trainings and educational presentations, and collaborates with Tribal representatives, child welfare agencies, courts, and community partners to promote survivor safety, family stability, and positive outcomes for Native families. The Domestic Violence Program Coordinator supports compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), attends dependency and related court hearings, assists with resource navigation and referrals, maintains program documentation and reporting requirements, and represents UAII in community meetings, coalitions, and outreach events while upholding the organization's mission, values, and commitment to preserving and strengthening Native families and communities.

Requirements:

· Provide peer support and mentorship to families involved in Indian Child Welfare cases and case involving domestic violence and/or sexual assault.

· Assist clients in understanding and navigating the Department of Social Services, court system, and domestic violence/sexual assault proceedings.

· Advocate for the best interests of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.

· Provide support services within UAII or provide referrals as needed for domestic violence/sexual assault offenders.

· Work collaboratively with Child and Family Services staff, tribal representatives, and community partners to support client safety, family preservation, and cultural connections.

· Facilitate access to resources, services, and educational opportunities tailored to the unique needs of Native individuals and families.

· Document case activities and maintain clear, accurate records in accordance with organizational policies.

· Serve as the intake and referral specialist for new clients seeking DV/SA support.

· Coordinate and manage referrals to DV/SA support services and the Healthcare Division, ensuring clients remain connected to resources that support their wellness goals.

· Answer and triage incoming calls across the organization, directing individuals to the appropriate programs and staff.

· Attend court hearings as the designated representative for UAII, ensuring the organization’s interests and documentation are accurately presented.

· Coordinate domestic violence prevention and advocacy activities.

· Conduct community outreach, engagement, and awareness events.

· Develop and facilitate training and workshops.

· Attend court hearings related to ICWA and domestic violence/sexual assault matters.

· Collaborate with Tribal representatives, DCFS, attorneys, courts, and community partners.

· Assist with safety planning, referrals, and client advocacy.

· Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and program records.

· Participate in community coalitions and multidisciplinary meetings.

· Prepare reports and support grant requirements.

· Must be able to reliably travel between our Los Angeles office and assigned court hearings.

· Must be able to occasionally work evenings, and weekends as needed for Company events.

· Strong communication skills and ability to provide empathetic, culturally informed support to peers.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Associate degree in social work, Human Services, Child Development, or a related field; or a comparable combination of education, professional experience, and/or relevant lived experience supporting domestic violence, sexual assault survivors.

· Experience with American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

· Familiarity and experience with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and its application in child welfare cases.

· Familiarity and experience working with child welfare systems, DCFS processes, and court procedures.

· Strong understanding of ICWA, Tribal sovereignty, and culturally grounded family-support practices.

· Ability to collaborate with Tribal, county, and community partners.

· Must be able to successfully complete California Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.

· Must be able to successfully complete a 40-Hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training within 90 days of hire.

· Valid California Driver License and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)

· Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, Child Development, or a related field

· Dependency court experience.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

· Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and trauma-informed care.

· Strong understanding of American Indian and Alaska Native cultures.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy requirements.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and build partnerships.

· Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.

Conditions of Hire
