Job Description
Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Regional Chef based in the North/Northeast region to oversee or collaborate with the management of the accounts in that area and manage the kitchen by leading other members of the food preparation teams.
What the Regional Chef will do:
Participate in the preparation, cooking, and portioning of large quantities of meals and other items.
Supervise and/or coordinate activities of cooks and other staff engaged in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food, including monitoring and training on all systems for food preparation and safety. Recording cook-to-hold temperatures, filling out production sheets, and using the production & purchasing systems.
Design recipes and recommend changes in recipes and cooking methods to improve products and ensure quality
Order or requisition food or other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation
Monitor and record kitchen inventory; order food supplies and receive and check products for freshness and quality
Determine how food should be presented in accordance with Meriwether Godsey standards and brand
Ensure correct use of equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and schedule equipment maintenance
Inspect supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure conformance to established standards
Demonstrate new cooking techniques or equipment to staff
Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
Record operational or production data
Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions
Keep food production areas, kitchen equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and sanitized; participate in and assist with coordinating the cleaning of cooking areas and equipment.
Attend production meetings daily; offer input regarding leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.
Perform all duties in accordance with people safety, food safety, and sanitation best practices
Regular & Predictable Attendance
Regular in- and out-of-state travel

- 10 Years of Experience
- Prior experience in a production kitchen and/or contract dining experience as a person with an elevated skill level
- ServSafe® Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
- Experience with high-volume food service operations, preferably in school environments
- Ability to measure products and convert units of measure
- High levels of professionalism, strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility; ability to switch between locations and job duties
- Growing knowledge of sustainable practices
- High School diploma or equivalent
