About the role

The Applications Specialist I helps administer, support, and improve the business applications our teams rely on every day, from POS and ticketing systems to core productivity and line-of-business apps. This is an entry-level role on the IT team for someone eager to grow: you’ll work alongside senior team members to configure applications, resolve user issues, and support integrations and rollouts. As an IT team member based at this location, the role also handles occasional Level 1 IT tasks that need to be done in person (no more than about four hours per week) and works a hybrid schedule, with on-site attendance expected when required. This role is posted in Chicago, IL, Las Vegas, NV, and Vancouver BC. Early priorities include learning our application landscape, supporting day-to-day requests, and documenting common fixes.

Compensation:

  • 80kCAD/annually
  • Extended Benefits
  • Short Term Incentive Program

What you'll do

  • Provide day-to-day support for business applications (POS/ticketing, productivity, and line-of-business systems) user setup, permissions, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Triage and resolve application support tickets, escalating complex issues to senior team members
  • Assist with application updates, testing, and rollouts, including validating fixes and new features
  • Help maintain integrations and data flows between applications under guidance
  • Create and maintain user guides, documentation, and knowledge base articles
  • Support end-user training and onboarding for applications
  • As an IT team member on site at this location, handle Level 1 tasks that need to be done in person (hardware setup and swaps, printer and peripheral issues, hands-on troubleshooting), up to about 4 hours per week; remote support is handled by the broader IT team
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service and communication skills: patient and clear with non-technical users
  • Solid troubleshooting instincts and attention to detail
  • Eager to learn and grow into a broader applications/IT role
  • Able to manage multiple requests and prioritize with guidance
  • Comfortable handling occasional hands-on Level 1 IT tasks, such as desktop, printer, and peripheral troubleshooting, with a customer service mindset
  • Collaborative team player within a cross-functional IT team
  • Experience with POS systems such as RTP, Retail Pro, and Ventrata an asset

Education & Experience

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

IDEAL EXPERIENCE: You won’t need every item on this list. If you meet most of it, we encourage you to apply

  • 0–2 years in IT support, application support, or a help desk role (internships and coursework count)
  • Exposure to supporting business applications or SaaS tools
  • Basic understanding of how applications, databases, and integrations fit together
  • Comfortable learning new systems quickly
