Job Description

Primarily responsible for developing and reporting sales performance analytics for the commercial organization with the intent of providing commercial insights that drive sales performance. The Sr. Commercial Analyst will be the champion for sales territory development by analyzing industry, competition, and customer segmentation data to drive market share and achieve margin improvement goals. This role will also track the effectiveness of sales incentive campaigns, customer rebate programs, and manage the monthly calculation / reporting of incentive compensation plans. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)


Essential Position Functions:

Sales Performance Analytics

  • Perform analytics on market / industry / competitive trends.
  • Leverage internal and external sales analytics to evaluate for emerging trends, and communicate strategic commercial insights
  • Establish relevant KPIs to help monitor performance against commercial initiatives and develop models that assist with decision making.
  • Perform analysis on sales campaigns / channels to assess sales conversion effectiveness.
  • Maintain and optimize sales territory in alignment with organizational goals and go-to-market strategies.
  • Sales Incentive Compensation

  • Perform monthly commissions calculations and reporting for existing incentive compensation plans.
  • Perform sales incentive analytics to ensure compliance and alignment with existing compensation programs.
  • Partner with Executive, Commercial, and HR Leadership in the deployment and change management of new sales incentive and compensation programs.
  • Maintain and deliver compensation related targets, relevant updates, and associated reporting.
    • Other ad hoc analytics or duties as required by the business.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • College degree in quantitative discipline (Finance, Business Analytics, etc.) highly valued and preferred.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a commercial / business analytics or FP&A role.
    • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office is required, with strong preference given to candidates skilled in SQL, Power Query, and Alteryx.
  • In-depth understanding of business data flow and experience with ERP systems and data warehouse tools.
  • Organized and self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective reporting and presentation skills; ability to interact with senior leadership on a regular basis.
    • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills.
    • Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.
    • Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

    • Due to travel / driving responsibilities, will be exposed to weather and typical driving conditions.
    • Up to 20% domestic travel required.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Bachelor’s degree related to information systems, analytics, business administration, computer science, statistics, or similar field preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ related work experience. May consider 8+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
    • Ability to create impactful analyses, visualizations, and interactive dashboards using Birst preferred.
    • Strategic thinking with excellent business, operational, and financial acumen
    • Hands-on approach, “can do” attitude, and process improvement mindsetMust have advanced Excel skills; intermediate Word, Power Point, and Outlook skills.
    • Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.
