Job Description

About Sims HD Heavy Moving Solutions

Who We Are SimsHD is a Tampa, Florida-based heavy hauling, rigging, and construction hoist company. We share a family legacy and a name with Sims Crane & Equipment, but SimsHD is a separate business — our own team, our own equipment, and our own focus: transporting, lifting, and placing the heavy, high-value equipment that keeps Florida’s industries moving. From hauling oversized industrial machinery across the state to rigging a delicate piece of equipment into a tight space, our crews specialize in the jobs that demand precision as much as horsepower. Operating out of our Tampa headquarters, SimsHD works on projects throughout Florida — and we’re growing.

A Message from Erika Sims, CEO “I grew up around cranes, but I built SimsHD around people. We started this company because our customers needed a partner who could handle the transportation and rigging side of a project with the same level of care we put into the lift itself. Today, SimsHD is a small, close-knit team taking on big, complicated work across Florida — and I’m proud of every person who wears our name on a jobsite. If you’re looking for a place where your work is seen, your voice matters, and doing the job right is non-negotiable, I hope you’ll consider joining us.” — Erika Sims, Chief Executive Officer, SimsHD

The SimsHD Operating Tenets Every job we take on, and everyone we hire, is measured against six tenets that guide how we work:

1. If it isn’t safe, it isn’t successful. No job is worth an injury — safety comes before schedule, every time.

2. We do the job right the first time. Preparation and precision are how we protect our customers’ equipment and our reputation.

3. Everyone owns the result. From the driver to the rigger to the project lead, every person on a SimsHD job is responsible for the outcome.

4. Experience matters — we learn from each other. Our best training comes from crew members who’ve been doing this for years, teaching the ones just getting started.

5. Our name goes on every job. We treat every project like our name is on the invoice, because it is.

6. Strong results come from strong people. We invest in our team because the quality of our work starts with the quality of our people.

Your Career Path: Four Levels of Riggers

At SimsHD, we believe in career paths and growing our talent. That's why we have four levels of Riggers, each with its own wage band and a clear path to the next.

· Level 1 — Rigger Helper / Apprentice 0–1 year of rigging experience. Work under the direct supervision of a senior rigger while you learn rigging hardware, safe lifting practices and site safety. Earn your OSHA 10 within your first 90 days.

· Level 2 — Rigger : 1–3 years of rigging experience. Select and inspect rigging, signal lifts and work independently on standard jobs. NCCCO Rigger I and/or Signal person certification.

· Level 3 — Senior Rigger : 3–6 years of rigging and machinery-moving experience. Run machinery moves with gantries, hydraulic jacks and skates, help build lift plans, and train Level 1 and 2 riggers. NCCCO Rigger II and Signal person certification.

· Level 4 — Lead Rigger / Rigging Lead : 6+ years of rigging experience. Serve as our subject-matter expert, plan critical and multi-crane lifts, and run the crew and the job site.

Riggers move up as they build skills, earn certifications and show results: completing training safely, rigging independently, leading moves, and finally leading as a subject-matter expert. Level 3 and 4 riggers can also grow into Crew Lead and Supervisor roles.

What You'll Do

Your exact responsibilities depend on your level. Across the team, SimsHD riggers:

· Rig, lift, move and set heavy industrial equipment and machinery safely.

· Select, inspect and maintain slings, shackles, chain falls, come-alongs and other rigging hardware.

· Operate machinery-moving equipment such as gantries, hydraulic jacks, skates, rollers and forklifts.

· Signal crane and hoist operators using standard hand signals and radio communication.

· Help prepare loads for transport and secure them with chains, binders and straps.

· Take part in job hazard analyses and pre-lift meetings, and follow every lift plan.

· Communicate clearly with crew members, crane operators, drivers, Dispatch and customers.

· At senior levels: build lift plans, plan critical and multi-crane lifts, lead crews, and mentor and train other riggers.

What We're Looking For

Required

· Willingness to learn and follow safe rigging practices on every lift.

· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the yard and job sites.

· Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening and a background check.

· Ability to meet site-specific access requirements (such as TWIC) when needed.

What helps you start at a higher level

· Rigging, millwright or machinery-moving experience in industrial settings.

· NCCCO Rigger I or Rigger II, and/or Signal person certification.

· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card.

· Experience with gantries, hydraulic jacks, skates and load calculations.

· Experience building lift plans, or planning critical and multi-crane lifts.

· A CDL Class A, or experience mentoring and training other riggers.

The kind of rigger who thrives here

· Puts safety first: inspects every piece of gear and stops a lift that isn't safe.

· Pays attention to detail on weights, angles, capacities and rigging configurations.

· Shows up on time, prepared, and represents SimsHD professionally on customer sites.

· Communicates clearly and works well with crews, operators and teammates.

· Wants to keep learning, earn certifications and work toward the next level.

Working Conditions

· Work in the yard and at customer job sites, including active industrial plants, power facilities and construction sites.

· Outdoor work in heat, cold, rain and noise. Required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves and high-vis.

· Able to lift up to 75 lb, climb ladders and equipment, work at heights with fall protection, and work in tight spaces.

· Early starts, weekends, shutdown work and overnight travel as jobs require.

Ready to Rig with us?

We encourage all riggers to apply — you don't need to pick a level. If you're invited to interview, we'll talk through your specific experience and determine where you'd be the best fit at SimsHD.
