Job Description

Africa Clinical Research Network (ACRN) is an African-led clinical research organization building the next generation of trial capacity across the continent. We work with existing hospitals, research units, and investigators to enable high-quality clinical research—from investigator-initiated studies to late-phase and registration trials—while strengthening local systems, skills, and infrastructure.

ACRN operates as a pan-African site management and research delivery platform, combining strong clinical operations, regulatory expertise, data and digital systems, and quality management. Our model is practical and embedded: we focus on making trials work in real settings, reducing friction for sites, sponsors, and regulators, and delivering reliable, audit-ready data.

We partner closely with governments, regulators, academic institutions, and industry to expand Africa’s role in global clinical research, while ensuring that studies generate local value—through workforce development, institutional strengthening, and improved patient care.

At ACRN, you’ll work on meaningful, complex projects with global impact, alongside a multidisciplinary team that values rigor, accountability, and innovation. We are building something durable, ambitious, and distinctly African—and we are looking for people who want to help shape it.

About the role

The Driver/Biker will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services in support of ACRN’s clinical research and operational activities. The role supports day-to-day logistics by transporting staff, research participants, documents, and supplies between offices, clinical sites, and external locations. The Driver plays a critical enabling role in ensuring that logistical operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. While the position itself is non-regulated, it operates within a clinical research environment and therefore requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to organizational policies, safety standards, and applicable road regulations.

What you'll do

  • Transportation and Logistical Support Safely transport staff, research participants, documents, and materials to designated locations. Support transportation needs for site visits, meetings, events, and other operational activities. • Respond to urgent or ad hoc transport requests, including emergency transport needs when required.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Readiness • Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy, fueled, and maintained in good working condition. • Conduct routine vehicle checks and report mechanical issues promptly. Coordinate servicing and repairs in line with organizational procedures.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation • Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and fuel usage documentation. • Ensure all transport-related records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Compliance and Safety • Adhere strictly to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and ACRN transport policies. • Drive defensively and responsibly at all times. • Report accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately in accordance with procedures.
  • Confidentiality and Professional Conduct • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, documents, and participant details. Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect when interacting with staff, participants, and external stakeholders.
