Associate Vice President, Student Experience

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate Vice President, Student Experience provides strategic leadership for the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of initiatives that enhance the student experience and support Huron's commitment to developing Leaders with Heart.
The AVP is accountable for advancing a distinctive student experience that supports and delivers career readiness, experiential learning, mentorship opportunities, and student programming such as Huron’s Nation Builder Program, the Career Accelerator Program and the RBC Community Innovation Bootcamp.
Working collaboratively with teams across the university, the AVP ensures that Huron's commitment to students is reflected throughout the student journey. They will also be responsible for identifying, developing, and strengthening opportunities that prepare students for success while enhancing Huron's reputation, student satisfaction and graduate outcomes. The AVP also provides strategic oversight to student experience initiatives that contribute to institutional priorities and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive student experience strategy aligned with Huron's mission, vision, and strategic priorities for graduate outcomes in support of Huron's commitment to developing Leaders with Heart.
- Lead institutional efforts to strengthen and differentiate Huron’s student experience by expanding awareness and participation in experiential learning, mentorship, internship, global engagement, co-curricular and career readiness opportunities.
- Provide strategic oversight for career development services, experiential learning initiatives, and student career readiness programs.
- Identify emerging trends, best practices, and opportunities within higher education, student experience, career development, and experiential learning.
- Champion initiatives and work with the Partnerships team to increase internship opportunities, employer partnerships, mentorship opportunities, and graduate outcomes.
- Collaborate with Advancement, Recruitment, Marketing, and other Student Service leaders to strengthen Huron's reputation and to enhance the quality, accessibility, and impact of student-facing opportunities and programs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management to direct reports while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to student experience, participation, satisfaction, career outcomes, and program effectiveness, using student feedback, assessment data, and institutional research to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, a master’s degree is considered an asset.
Experience
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of leadership experience in higher education, student success, career development, student engagement, partnerships, or a related field, including senior leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, managing complex initiatives, and advancing strategic priorities, operating at a senior leadership level with responsibility for institution-wide strategy and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Experience leading organizational change, service transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives in a complex environment.
- Experience developing external partnerships and collaborative relationships with employers, community organizations, and institutional stakeholders is an asset.
- Experience overseeing budgets, operational planning, and performance measurement factors.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of student development, student engagement, career readiness, experiential learning, and higher education trends.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, experienced using data to inform decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and commitment to enhancing the student experience.
Compensation:
This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary commensurate with experience: $130,000 - $170,000
