Job Description

Infusion Nurse Job Description

Praesentia Health Care is seeking a compassionate and skilled Casual Infusion Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Hamilton clinic. The successful candidate will work independently to safely administer intravenous iron therapy and support new infusion programs as the organization continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

· Independently administer intravenous iron therapy and other infusion therapies in accordance with physician orders

· Prepare and administer infusions, including pre-medications and PRN medications for infusion-related reactions

· Initiate and manage IV access with a high degree of proficiency

· Monitor patients throughout the infusion treatment, including flow rates, vital signs, and overall patient condition

· Have the knowledge, skill and judgment to independently manage infusion related reactions

· Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while ensuring a safe and supportive clinic environment

· Deliver patient health education during infusion visits, including what to expect, potential side effects, symptom reporting, and discharge instructions

· Assist with the day-to-day operations of the infusion clinic, including monitoring supplies, expiry dates, collaborating with infusion coordinator and maintaining clinic readiness

· Complete all documentation, scheduling, patient billing, and adverse event reporting using a dedicated electronic medical record (EMR) system

· Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards, infusion standards, and all policies and procedures of Praesentia Lifespan Bioscience Infusion Program

· Participate in LifeSpan Bioscience Infusion Program training

Required Qualifications

· Current Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

· Maintains a yearly CPR certificate

· Holds current RPNAO membership with Professional Liability Protection

· Previous experience in IV therapy, infusion services, emergency, or oncology nursing preferred

· Strong IV initiation and patient assessment skills

· Proficient computer skills with experience using EMR

· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work independently while providing a high level of customer service

· Demonstrated compassion and commitment to patient satisfaction
