Position Overview

McKinney Specialty Labs, LLC. is looking for a Laboratory Technician who will be responsible for performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner. This position will be in one of the following groups: GC, LC, GCMS, or LCMS, and these tasks will be performed under the direction of the Group Leader.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis
• Determine the volume of samples
• Clean laboratory glassware
• Prepare reagents for lab use and/or shipment
• Perform sample extractions
• Maintain clean laboratory areas
• Maintain organized records of sample preparation and analysis
• Assist the Group Leaders and Analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
• Work comfortably with chemicals, glassware, and tobacco/nicotine products
• Remain flexible and handle changing priorities
• Demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and a desire to work both as part of a team and independently
• Comply with McKinney Specialty Labs Quality Assurance Program and other policies
• Comply with McKinney Specialty Labs Health and Safety Plan
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Career Studies Certificate in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Prior laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an entry level position
• Knowledge of analytical methods, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good organizational skills and strong communication skills

We believe in transparent compensation practices. The expected hourly rate for this position is $20.00–$22.00 per hour. Starting pay within this range will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as the requirements of the role.
