Medical Billing Specialist in Laytonville, California at Long Valley Health Center

Long Valley Health Center is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and follow up skills. The Billing Specialist is responsible for posting charges, payments and adjustments for multi-specialty medical office, file electronic claims, review claim rejection reports, make appropriate corrections and re-bill claims as necessary in a timely manner. Below is a sample of duties, but is not limited to:

• Post charges, payments, and adjustments
• Ensure claims rejections are corrected and resubmitted in a timely manner
• Coordinate billing activities inter-departmentally as needed
• Communicate with Providers as needed regarding coding

• Knowledge of health insurance and billing regulations, including Medicaid, Medicare, and special rules regarding FQHC status
• Experience with EHR systems, preferably ECW
• Strong customer service skills
• Accurate data entry skills
• Understanding of Medical Terminology, ICD and CPT coding.
• Familiar with HIPAA requirements
• Ability to multi-task
• Works well independently, as well as a part of a team
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• You will be interacting with insurance companies and patients regarding accounts, past due balances, unpaid claims, and other billing-related items, so strong communication skills are a must.
