Daycare Kitchen Assistant! in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia at Kids & Company Ltd

Reporting to the Centre Director, you will be an integral member of the Kids & Company team, supporting the overall management of daily kitchen operations. Your role will involve food preparation and cooking while following Kids & Company standards to align with our mission and quality expectations.

Assist the Chef in preparing meals, baking, and snacks, including accommodating children with special dietary requirements.Perform daily kitchen duties such as heating food, preparing vegetables and starches, cutting fruit, portioning, dishwashing, and delivering food to classrooms.Transport prepared food between locations using a company vehicle.Ensure proper food storage, handling, and disposal; maintain temperature logs; and comply with all health regulations and best practices.Follow proper cleaning, washing, and sanitizing procedures for all dishware.Assist in classrooms as needed, including covering teacher breaks.Maintain kitchen cleanliness by following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.Support evolving duties as required based on the daycare centre’s operational needs.

Begin the workday at the main Hammond Plains location from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.At 11:00 AM, pick up prepared food and deliver it to the secondary Hammond Plains location using a company vehicle.Spend the remainder of the day at the second location, supporting kitchen and classroom needs until approximately 3:00 PM.

Minimum 2 years of experience in a Kitchen Assistant or similar role.Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.High School Diploma or GED.Current Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).Experience in a daycare or childcare environment is an asset.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Clean criminal record check.Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.
