Job Description

Position Description: Summary:
The Senior Accountant, Loan & Investor Accounting, is responsible for accounting and reporting activities related to mortgage loan funding, warehouse lending, investor settlements, and loan sales. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of loan-level accounting records, supports month-end and year-end close processes, and partners with internal teams to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting. The position plays a key role in maintaining financial controls and supporting the full mortgage loan lifecycle from funding through investor purchase and settlement.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
• Record and reconcile loan funding, loan sales, warehouse line activity, gain-on-sale transactions, and investor settlements.
• Maintain loan-level accounting records and reconcile subledger activity to the general ledger.
• Monitor and reconcile warehouse lending balances and related transactions.
• Review investor purchase advices and ensure accurate recording of proceeds, fees, premiums, discounts, and adjustments.
• Assist with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA or CMA certification is often preferred or required.
• Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Mortgage banking, mortgage servicing, financial services or lending industry experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of mortgage origination and servicing workflows preferred.
• Experience using Loan Vision or similar mortgage accounting platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
