Job Description

Are you looking for a career change, better pay, or simply a team that actually answers the phone when you call?

At Med Plus Staffing, we believe healthcare professionals deserve a partner, not just a placement. We are a locally owned, Pittsburgh-based company dedicated to improving healthcare quality across Southwestern Pennsylvania. We don’t just fill shifts; we empower professionals to take control of their work-life balance.

The Role

We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team in Coraopolis, PA and the surrounding areas. In this role, you will provide nursing support in IDD/ICF and community-based settings while helping individuals maintain their health, safety, dignity, and independence.

What You'll Bring (Requirements)

We hire punctual, reliable, and compassionate nursing professionals who are passionate about providing quality care.

  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) License in Pennsylvania or valid Multi-state Compact License.
  • Certification: Valid BLS Certification. Must be hands-on training and meet AHA Guidelines for 2025.
  • Health Requirements: Must provide a Physician/CRNP-signed physical dated within the past 6 months that states you are free from communicable diseases and cleared to perform job duties; 2-Step TB or comparable TB documentation dated within the past 6 months; and COVID-19 vaccination documentation or ability to complete a religious exemption form.
  • Clearance: Current Child Abuse History Clearance for Employment (PA CWIS Abuse Registry).
  • Background: Ability to pass PA State Criminal History Clearance and any other required background checks.
  • Skills: Strong clinical judgement with the ability to respond appropriately to changes in condition, emergencies, and facility needs.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation, reporting, and team collaboration.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Provide Oversight: Coordinate and provide nursing care to individuals in community-based IDD/ICF settings.
  • Support Individual Needs: Provide care that supports the health, safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life of every individual served.
  • Clinical Care: Administer medications, injections, treatments, and wound care dressings according to provider orders and facility policies.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Observe, evaluate, document, and report changes in condition, symptoms, behaviors, or reactions to treatments.
  • Team Support: Assist the healthcare team with treatment plans, health checks, basic diagnostic tests, and ongoing care needs.
  • Communication: Communicate with individuals, families, facility staff, providers, and the healthcare team to support the continuity of care.
Onboarding & Facility Approval Process

Because this position is staffed through a Managed Service Provider and facility system, all required credentials and compliance documents must be submitted, reviewed, and approved before placement.

Required documentation must meet facility/MSP standards. Incomplete, expired, incorrectly worded, unsigned, or non-compliant documents may delay or prevent placement until corrected documentation is provided.

After credentials are reviewed and approved, eligible nurses must complete required facility training before being eligible to pick up shifts. Completion of onboarding does not guarantee a specific schedule, location, number of shifts, or ongoing facility need. Available shifts are based on facility approval, facility demand, nurse availability, distance/travel ability, training completion, and scheduling needs.
