Job Description
Threat Tec is seeking a qualified Physical Security Specialist to support the 89th Attack Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. The Physical Security Specialist will manage and maintain the day-to-day physical security posture of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities and associated secure areas.
This position is responsible for supporting SCIF accreditation and reaccreditation, physical security inspections, alarm and access-control systems, visitor-control procedures, security-container compliance and coordination with Air Force and Intelligence Community security organizations.
The successful candidate must be capable of working independently in a high-tempo TS/SCI environment while ensuring facilities, systems and security processes remain compliant and mission-ready.
- Manage the physical security program for SCIF AF11-007 and applicable subordinate or associated secure facilities.
- Execute visitor-control procedures and verify personnel access to controlled and classified areas.
- Coordinate SCIF accreditation and reaccreditation activities with ACC/SSO, the Defense Intelligence Agency and other designated security authorities.
- Inspect secure facility construction and physical safeguards for compliance with ICD 705 and applicable Department of Defense, Air Force and Intelligence Community requirements.
- Identify facility-security deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with the Government, facility managers and installation security personnel.
- Maintain Fixed Facility Checklists, TEMPEST documentation and supporting accreditation records.
- Review proposed facility changes and modifications to ensure they receive appropriate security approval before implementation.
- Update and maintain physical-security portions of SCIF Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Procedures.
- Conduct and document recurring physical-security inspections.
- Perform and document scheduled alarm-system tests and coordinate results or maintenance actions with installation Security Forces.
- Manage alarm-monitoring and access-control requirements for assigned facilities.
- Inspect, test and maintain Intrusion Detection Systems and Alarm Detection Systems.
- Program and maintain IDS/ADS access codes, cypher locks, X-09 locks and newer approved locking devices.
- Maintain facility access rosters, badge records and Alarmed Facility Access Authorization documentation.
- Maintain and audit SF-700, SF-701 and SF-702 forms for classified areas and security containers.
- Support the secure handling, storage, movement and destruction of classified and SCI materials.
- Facilitate internal reviews, Staff Assistance Visits and external physical-security inspections.
- Prepare physical-security reports, inspection records, memoranda and corrective-action documentation.
- Serve as a primary physical-security liaison with unit security managers, ACC/SSO, DIA, the 28th Bomb Wing Security Forces Squadron, AFOSI and other security stakeholders.
- Ensure assigned personnel complete required physical-security and SSO-directed training.
- Track deficiencies, corrective actions and security-related suspenses through completion.
- Active and current Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility.
- U.S. citizenship.
- At least one year of experience working within a TS/SCI facility.
- At least one year of direct physical-security experience involving SCIFs, alarms, access control, visitor control, classified facilities or comparable secure environments.
- Working knowledge of ICD 705 and physical-security requirements applicable to classified facilities.
- Hands-on experience with intrusion-detection or alarm systems, electronic access-control systems, cypher locks and X-09 or comparable locking devices.
- Ability to conduct physical-security inspections and accurately document findings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to prepare professional reports, memoranda, briefings and security documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple security requirements and Government suspenses.
- Physical-security experience within the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense or Intelligence Community.
- Experience coordinating SCIF accreditation or reaccreditation with DIA, ACC/SSO or another cognizant security authority.
- Experience maintaining Fixed Facility Checklists and TEMPEST documentation.
- Familiarity with DIA approval processes for SCIF construction or facility modifications.
- Experience managing alarm-monitoring programs across multiple secure facilities.
- Experience auditing SF-700, SF-701 and SF-702 documentation.
- Prior military service in Air Force Security Forces, intelligence, special security or a related occupational specialty.
- Completion of relevant Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency or Center for Development of Security Excellence coursework.
- Physical Security Professional or comparable industry certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, intelligence studies or a related field preferred.
- Relevant military education, security training and professional certifications may be considered in place of formal postsecondary education.
- Work will be performed on-site at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota.
- Standard operating hours are anticipated to be 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Routine telework is not authorized.
- Limited telework may be permitted during installation closures or severe weather when approved by the Government.
- Local travel within approximately 50 miles of Ellsworth AFB may be required.
- No routine temporary duty travel is anticipated.
$45,000 - $85,000 a year
