With a coveted location neighboring the charms of River Oaks, and the culture of Uptown’s energy, The Greenleigh is the one place that truly celebrates—and elevates— the unexpected nature of Houston.

At The Greenleigh, every event is an opportunity to create unforgettable experiences. We are seeking a service-driven and detail-oriented Banquets & Catering Captain to lead banquet operations, ensuring seamless execution of meetings, weddings, social events, and special functions while delivering exceptional hospitality.

This role works closely with the Banquet Manager, culinary team, and event staff to coordinate event setup, service execution, and breakdown. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional with strong leadership skills, a passion for guest service, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requested Tasks

  • Lead banquet service teams during meetings, weddings, and special events to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Coordinate event setup, execution, and breakdown according to banquet event orders (BEOs) and client expectations.
  • Assign duties, direct workflow, and provide ongoing support to banquet servers and event staff throughout each function.
  • Ensure banquet rooms, buffets, bars, and service stations are properly prepared and maintained.
  • Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and service standards throughout all events.
  • Communicate effectively with Culinary, Sales, and Hotel Operations teams to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Address guest requests and resolve service concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Train, mentor, and coach banquet team members on service standards and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service regulations.
  • Assist with inventory, equipment maintenance, and post-event cleanup to maintain operational excellence.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Requested Capabilities

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of banquet, restaurant, or hospitality experience, with previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet service standards, food and beverage operations, and event execution.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional guest service skills with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and remain standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • TABC Certification (or the ability to obtain certification) preferred.
