Job Description

JACQUET is an established market leader in the distribution of stainless steel and nickel alloys in plate and round bar. Jacquet strives to be the best supplier of stainless steel and nickel cut parts by providing high quality in-house processing. Metals are sold either as-is or cut to made-to-measure sizes using plasma machines, water jets, lasers or saws. Jacquet applications cover many industrial sectors such as the water, environment, energy, mechanical and forged metal construction, chemical and agri-food, gas processing and storage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors. We have four strategically placed locations within the US including Pennsylvania, California, Texas, and Wisconsin with many more globally.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor for 3rd shift at our Houston, TX facility.

General Description:

This position is responsible for providing quality products in an accurate and timely manner, while minimizing costs and maximizing throughput. The Shift Supervisor leads all facets of this metals service-center plant, including production, shipping and receiving, quality, CAD and maintenance.

Reports to: Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Commit to and enforce plant safety procedures.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste and improve them.
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure the appropriate level of accountability for goals, objectives, and company policies.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning resource allocation and human resources)
  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • Familiarity with metal industry standard equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical expertise.
  • Computer literacy with ERP systems and the Microsoft suite
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, and inventory processes.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of work experience in a manufacturing or operations management position
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations for general industry.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO9001 preferred, but not required
