Account Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Account Director based in United States.

This role offers an opportunity to lead a high-profile commercial healthcare account while serving as a senior strategic partner to clients. You will provide both strategic direction and operational leadership across integrated communications programs supporting brand and business objectives. Working closely with creative, digital, scientific, and client service teams, you will translate client needs into effective multi-channel solutions. The position combines relationship management, financial oversight, project leadership, and business development in a fast-paced agency environment. You will anticipate challenges, identify opportunities for account growth, and ensure programs are delivered to a high standard. The role also provides an opportunity to coach client services professionals and contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead a complex commercial healthcare account, providing strategic direction and ensuring consistent delivery excellence.
  • Serve as a trusted senior client partner, developing strong relationships and providing proactive, solutions-focused strategic counsel.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of integrated commercial communications programs across multiple channels and tactics.
  • Partner with Creative, Digital, Scientific, and other cross-functional teams to develop solutions aligned with client and brand objectives.
  • Lead project teams from planning through execution, ensuring quality, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations are effectively managed.
  • Provide financial oversight across accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability, invoicing, and statement of work development.
  • Anticipate account needs, identify potential risks, and proactively resolve challenges to maintain program momentum.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships, expand services, and support organic account growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Client Services team members while promoting collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
  • Contribute to new business opportunities through proposal development, presentations, and pitches.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in healthcare communications, advertising, or a related agency environment.
  • Experience supporting commercial pharmaceutical or healthcare accounts.
  • Strong understanding of integrated commercial communications and experience delivering programs across multiple channels.
  • Demonstrated success in client relationship management, strategic consulting, and account growth.
  • Experience leading teams and developing client services professionals.
  • Strong project and financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability management, invoicing, and statement of work development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organization and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to anticipate client and project needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative agency environment.
