Job Description

SUMMARY: The Transportation Manager will assist with the MCCA’s Transportation needs to ensure timely delivery of services to MCCA events and customers, the safety of the Authority’s staff, guests, visitors, and facilities. Work with Senior Transportation Manager and Event Services to determine transportation and staffing needs of each individual event and provide timely communication to Event management staff and related contacts. Provide supervision and guidance to the Transportation Supervisors and Agents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Authority’s Senior Transportation Manager may designate various other activities. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Leadership:

· Schedules, directs, and supervises the activities of the Transportation Agents and Supervisors and Coordinator.

· Executes training schedules and sessions for Transportation Agents and Supervisors as directed by Senior Transportation Manager.

· Provides guidance and mentorship to Assistant Transportation Manager and part time staff

· Manage and track spending for budget codes specific to their duties

Commuter Services Programs:

· Coordinate with Senior Transportation Manager and Manager of External Operations to make sure that Transportation Agents and Supervisors are fairly spread across all services.

· As needed assist with staffing and management of commuter services at the discretion of the Senior Transportation Manager.

Policies & Procedures & Training:

· Ensures adherence to policies and procedures by Transportation Supervisors and Agents.

· Periodically, review all Department Policies and Procedures for accuracy and best practices

· As needed, develop and implement new standard operating procedures and policies under the guidance of the Senior Transportation Manager

· Develop, schedule and implement appropriate trainings for all staff on procedures

· Ensure that all part time staff are properly trained on all posts and procedures. Schedule and deliver new hire, quarterly and yearly trainings.

Event Planning:

· Works with various event clients regarding parking, shuttle and valet service needs. When appropriate uses an Authority vehicle to transport clients and employees from and to various locations.

· Develop and implement event transportation plans for all assigned events in compliance with all procedures and permitting requirements.

· Prepares and maintains all required reports, records, and logs relating to transportation plans.

· As determined by event activity, maintains contacts with parking contractor, and other MCCA departments.

· When the MCCA is selected as the transportation provider for events, develop transportation proposals and plans for the client, implement and oversee all aspects of final transportation plan.

Prepare, receive and award shuttle bids.

Operations:

· Develops event related staffing plans and scheduling and ensure appropriate staffing levels for events.

· Communicates with parking vendor on self-parking and valet needs for events.

· Coordinates with local city and state agencies on requests for assistance with regional variable message signage, police details and other transportation related requests.

· Coordinates with local hotels and parking garages on parking needs and other events taking place in the area that may impact traffic

· As directed by the Senior Transportation Manager, provides daily, weekly oversight of contracted services. Works with parking contractor to develop weekly and daily parking lot schedule. Responsible for developing and sending MCCA correspondence as applicable.

· Works with Uber and Lyft on developing a schedule of approved drop off locations.

· Works with MCCA Public Safety on developing a calendar for door coverage requests for shuttle drop off and other entry points

· Ensure that all relative transportation plans are saved into the appropriate Transportation drives as well as all applicable event software.

· Assists in responding to emergency calls for service, such as demonstrations, protests, disorderly persons, fires, and storms, medical and other emergencies requiring action by the Transportation Department.

· Reviews traffic flow relative to public safety. Reports irregularities and hazards to appropriate personnel.

· Represents the Authority at transportation and related meetings of professional organizations in order to develop professional networks in the Transportation Field.

· Attends meetings and interact with both internal and external Transportation Department clients.

· Manages and assists on various Transportation Projects as directed by the Senior Transportation Manager & Director.

Vehicles & Signage:

o Create a vehicle & signage maintenance policy and schedule, and ensure all MCCA-owned vehicles are maintained to that standard

o Make recommendations for vehicle and signage purchases and replacements based on maintenance history and operational need.

o Act as liaison to the legal department for any insurance claims related to MCCA automotive equipment.

o Manage access to shared key box for all approved employees

· Payroll- approve all part-time employee timecards for employees assigned to building events. Ensure that staff are properly coded to the correct budget.

· Capital Projects- At the direction of the Senior Manager, work with Capital Projects on projects that would directly impact transportation operations at MCCA facilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly manages and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Transportation Agents and Supervisors and the Transportation Coordinator.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Supervision is provided by the Senior Transportation Manager and includes training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience and three to five years’ experience in transportation or a related field, with at least two of those years at the management level demonstrating direct responsibility for significant aspects of an organization’s Transportation operations.

· Significant years of experience and training in a Transportation related field may substitute for the degree requirement.

· Significant knowledge of transportation rules and regulations, and property management operations are essential.

· Requires a working knowledge of state-of-the-art word processing and computer related analytical tools and databases, such as Microsoft Word, Excel Power Point, Adobe and Social Media outlets.

· It is required that the incumbent have a demonstrated history of being a well- organized individual, who has the ability to prioritize projects and assignments, is a team player, possesses excellent communication skills, flexibility and is committed to the MCCA’s Mission.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule of this position is a non-traditional work schedule and will fluctuate based on the needs of a particular event or project and the position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends and holidays.

DRESS CODE: In order to project a professional image, and the level of dignity and decorum that is required when serving the public, appropriate dress and good grooming are expected of all employees.
