Summary:
A Senior Instrument Engineer II (SIE II) is a seasoned expert who provides high-level strategic and technical leadership for the instrumentation and control engineering discipline across projects. This role is instrumental in defining I&C engineering capabilities, ensuring technical consistency, mentoring senior technical staff, and driving innovation to meet the unique challenges of the midstream/facilities oil & gas industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary technical authority for I&C engineering, providing expert guidance on complex challenges.
- Development and implementation of long-term strategies for I&C engineering technical capabilities, tools, and resource development.
- Lead of critical design reviews and provision of final technical sign-off on significant I&C engineering deliverables.
- Oversight of the resolution of highly complex and ambiguous technical problems, often involving multiple disciplines.
- Acting as a key mentor and technical advisor to Senior Instrument Engineer I and other I&C engineering staff.
- Driving R&D efforts related to I&C engineering solutions for the oil & gas industry.
- Engagement at a strategic level with clients, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies on I&C engineering policies and best practices.
- Responsibility for ensuring the overall technical quality and integrity of all I&C engineering work performed.
- Contribution to overall engineering department strategy, resource planning, and technology adoption.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in all facets of I&C engineering design in oil and gas.
- Proven ability to manage and lead technical teams effectively.
- Recognition as an industry expert or thought leader in I&C engineering areas relevant to oil & gas.
- Proven track record of leading and successfully delivering highly complex and innovative I&C engineering solutions.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Superior communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
- Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office to access files, office equipment, and attend meetings.
