Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care and Clinical Workflow
· Greet and room patients; obtain and document vital signs, pain scores, medical history, medications, allergies, and wound-related history in the EHR.
· Prepare patients and exam rooms for wound care visits, ensuring all supplies and equipment are stocked and ready for procedures.
· Assist wound care providers with procedures such as wound cleansing, dressing changes, debridement setup, compression therapy preparation, negative pressure wound therapy setup, and offloading devices.
· Perform wound measurements and wound photography in accordance with clinic protocols and provider direction.
· Educate patients and caregivers on wound care instructions, dressing changes, offloading, nutrition, infection prevention, and follow-up plans as directed by the provider.
· Support infection prevention practices, including proper hand hygiene, PPE use, and cleaning/disinfection of rooms and equipment between patients.
· Coordinate referrals, imaging, laboratory orders, and follow-up appointments as needed.
· Assist with obtaining prior authorizations and other administrative clinical support tasks related to patient care.
Clinical Documentation and Communication
· Document clinical encounters and procedures accurately and in a timely manner within the EHR.
· Communicate effectively with providers, nursing staff, schedulers, and other departments to support seamless patient care and clinic efficiency.
· Monitor and promptly report changes in wound status, signs of infection, or patient concerns to the provider.
· Maintain patient confidentiality and always comply with HIPAA and clinic policies.
Schedule
· Part-time, three days per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
· Hours will be determined based on clinic needs and patient volume.
Qualifications
Required
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA) or equivalent clinical experience as determined by the employer.
· BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
· Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience.
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered, compassionate approach.
· Comfortable using EHR systems and performing accurate clinical documentation.
Preferred
· Experience in wound care, outpatient clinical settings, or specialty practices.
· Familiarity with wound assessment and dressing techniques.
· Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with patient positioning and mobility for extended periods during clinic days.
· Ability to lift and move supplies/equipment as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Work primarily in an outpatient wound clinic environment with exposure to bodily fluids and standard clinical risks.
