Position: Director of Statewide IT and Operations
Department: People and Culture
Terms of Employment: Regular Full-Time/Exempt (NYCLU staff is currently working in a hybrid model; a number of in-person days will be required). This may require support outside of office hours and weekends for critical IT issues.
Salary: $100,000 - $110,000

SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThis position is responsible for overseeing daily business operations for the NYC offices as well as 6 Regional Offices throughout the state, supporting Human Resources and managing IT infrastructure. This role requires a privacy-forward strategic thinker who can improve operational efficiency, lead technological initiatives, and ensure reliable, secure systems to support our organizational goals.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee daily office operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
Drive organizational safeguarding and risk management, in coordination with counsel:
- Ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Proactively monitor, anticipate, and respond to security and privacy threats, ensuring NYCLU’s infrastructure and protocols are privacy-forward and secure.
Supervise IT personnel and infrastructure (networks, systems, software and hardware) for a 100+ person organization:
- Supervise and mentor IT staff and overseeing vendors.
- Interface with our National organization on standards and compliance, as necessary.
- Manage IT procurement and budget.
- Ensure data integrity, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Driving digital transformation and adoption of new technologies.
Support the Director of People and Culture in managing HR and operational projects:
- Assist with the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Assist the Director in carrying out HR functions in a unionized office.
- Monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, leases, and service agreements.
- Lead process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on organizational-wide planning and growth initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONSRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (Masters preferred).
- 6+ years of experience in operations management, IT management, or a similar role (4 years for Director).
- Proven experience managing individual contributors, teams, and projects.
- Experience managing complex IT infrastructure, including hardware, networks, cybersecurity, and digital safety principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Occasional availability for after-hours support for critical IT issues.

- Ability to proactively strategize privacy concerns and organizational safeguarding.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with cloud platforms, enterprise AI, and accessibility.
- Experience with vendor and contract management, for example insurance, lease agreements, etc.
- Experience developing or leading trainings.
- Experience with safety and security protocols.
