Job Overview:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing raw materials and fabricated products for the manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical or manufacturing background, specifically in metal fabrication and casting processes, and possess the ability to read technical drawings to understand product requirements. This role requires a high level of drive, negotiation skills, and familiarity with INCO terms and payment conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure raw materials, fabricated products, and components, including those requiring foundry and machining capabilities.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine material specifications and production requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and conditions with suppliers, leveraging in-depth product knowledge.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost efficiency.
- Coordinate with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to meet production needs.
- Handle procurement of specialized items, including actuators and metal-fabricated components.
- Responsible for supplier visits, inspections, and business development meetings.
- Ensure compliance with INCO terms and company procurement policies.
- Manager vendor relationships to ensure products are accurately sourced, competitively priced, and delivered on time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles, contract law, and negotiation tactics.
- Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make sound business recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- High-energy, proactive, and self-driven with strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of INCO terms and international procurement practices.
- Experience with actuators and other mechanical components is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based, and climate-controlled environments
- Travel up to 20% to vendor sites or company facilities as needed.
- May require extended hours during peak sourcing or implementation periods.
