Description:

Maintenance and Landscape Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform general repair and preventative maintenance related to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, grounds and HVAC for indoor and outdoor buildings and structures.
  • Interior and Exterior Painting
  • Familiar with security alarms & fire systems (changing batteries, resetting systems, etc).
  • Ability to work with a variety of hand tools and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to drive tractors and a variety of outdoor terrain vehicles.
  • Preventive HVAC maintenance (changing filters, cleaning coils, etc.)
  • Maintains the grounds and flower and shrub beds as needed, including but not limited to, mowing, weeding by hand and by power tools, planting and removing shrubs, flowers and small trees, watering, application of herbicides.
  • Maintains walking and hiking paths, some outdoor activity elements.
  • Keeps grounds clean, removes trash, cleans trash cans. Assists housekeeping by removing trash from lodges.
  • Keep sidewalks, porches and roads clean and clear during inclement weather by shoveling and using mechanical means.
  • Cuts and stacks wood for fireplace.
  • Light construction including such as drywall, baseboards, ceiling repair and furniture.
  • Minor repair of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems (including heating and air units), minor plumbing and electrical issues.
  • Pool and spa maintenance.
  • Periodically help set up and tear down of banquet rooms, tents, and outdoor venues.
  • Supports the mission, vision and values of POSTOAK Lodge & Retreat.
  • Quickly responds and remediates guest concerns related to maintenance issues.

§ Planting, maintenance, and display of all plants, planters and garden beds on property including but not limited to weeding by hand and by power tools, planting, watering, and removing shrubs, flowers, grasses and small trees.

§ Manage seasonal plantings in addition to shrub, tree, and herbaceous perennial plantings.

§ Documents new plantings, removals, deaths, and potential changes to planting beds.
Maintains and makes repairs to building and grounds structures

  • Installs and repairs fencing; flag stone, edging, and sub-surface drainage;
  • Operates equipment used for maintenance, clean-up, and minor hardscape projects.
  • Cleans and cares for all tools and equipment needed for job assignments.
  • Maintains walking and hiking paths and area around outdoor activity elements.
  • Keeps grounds clean, removes trash, cleans trash cans.
  • Keep sidewalks, porches and roads clean and clear during inclement weather by shoveling and using mechanical means and is on call for snow/storm removal.
  • Cuts and stacks wood for fireplace.
  • Operates leaf blower, DR, tractor and other outdoor equipment.
  • Ensures all guest pathways, gardens, overall grounds and outdoor structures are clear of debris.
  • Maintains and sets up chairs and tables “outdoor rooms” (PoleBarn, Arbor, Island, etc.) and other areas as needed.

§ Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, pruning, fertilization, transplanting, propagation, nursey practices, light irrigation work, identification and control of weeds, pests, and diseases, and pool and spa maintenance.

§ Quickly responds and remediates guest concerns related to grounds issues. Actively builds relationships with team members and is a team player. Treats all POSTOAK employees, managers, and customers with respect.

§ Dresses professionally in accordance with company dress code and area uniform requirements.

§ Attends all required company training programs and meetings.

§ Follows instructions and responds to management direction.

§ Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas, banquet space, and kitchen. Removes trash regularly and safely.

§ Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Employee Handbook.

§ Actively and immediately reports suspected theft, fraud, or falsifications to Management.

§ Ability to perform all job functions and responsibilities.

§ Assists in other tasks, duties, or projects as assigned by management.

Requirements:

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education: High school diploma or GED.

License Requirements: Driving is required. The employee must possess a valid driver’s license, valid insurance, and must be approved to drive by Human Resources.

Preferred: Pool Certification, OSHA Regulations Knowledge, HVAC, Welding, Electrical, and/or Plumbing Certifications.

Experience: Six (6) months experience in a maintenance, landscape, or related industry.

Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, safety rules, work orders, instruction manuals, the Employee Handbook, other Company policies and procedures, short correspondence, memos, and documents. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to listen and comprehend, and present information to guests, co-workers, and management.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: Ability to stand and/or walk for a prolonged period of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to reach, stoop, and/or crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and/or hear. Ability to step up and down onto platforms while carrying items.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb, balance and stoop; kneel; crouch; and/or crawl.

Ability to work under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold), indoors/outdoors, under variable noise levels ranging to loud.
