Payroll Compliance Officer

What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing and lodging payroll tax returns across multiple Australian jurisdictions, and staying across state-based legislative changes
- Reconciling payroll-related general ledger accounts including wages, superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG withholding and employee deductions
- Processing fortnightly payroll journals into NetSuite, with accurate cost allocation across entities and departments
- Managing PAYGW payments, reconciling STP lodgements and monitoring ATO portals for ongoing compliance
- Maintaining WorkCover records, preparing lodgements and supporting premium reconciliations
- Investigating payroll variances and providing analysis on labour cost movements across business units
- Preparing audit work papers and responding to internal and external information requests
What You'll Bring
- Experience in payroll compliance, payroll accounting or a related role
- Hands-on payroll tax experience, including preparation, reconciliation and lodgement
- Experience in a large, complex organisation withmulti-state, multi-entity or high-volume workforce environments
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation and PAYG obligations
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency across payroll and accounting software
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
