The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting for assigned multifamily residential properties and properties under development, including monthly financial reporting, lender and draw accounting, accounts payable, and balance sheet maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably in multifamily property accounting, real estate development, or property management.

• Working knowledge of real estate accounting practices and monthly close procedures.

• Experience with Yardi property accounting software preferred.

• Experience with construction draws, lender reporting, replacement reserve requests, and development job cost accounting.

• Degree in accounting, finance or relevant work experience.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for assigned multifamily residential properties and properties under development.

• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including journal entries, reclasses, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.

• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation.

• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items as needed.

• Manage accounts payable for assigned properties, including invoice review, coding, approval routing, payment processing, and vendor support.

• Support lender reporting and construction draw accounting, including recurring deliverables, draw requests, and coordination with lenders, development teams, and internal stakeholders.

• Prepare and submit replacement reserve requests and maintain related backup documentation.

• Process accounting entries and supporting documentation related to real estate closings.

• Create and maintain vendor records, certificates of insurance, and other property accounting records.

• Assist with sales tax filings, security deposit accounting, accounts receivable entries, and other property-level accounting items as applicable.

• Maintain organized electronic files and support lender requests, ownership reporting, and internal review.

• Provide additional accounting and administrative support across departments as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform routine office duties within the confines of an office environment.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, type, write, and handle office supplies and files as needed.

• Occasional lifting and carrying of office supplies, files, resident packages, or similar items. Assistance should be used for heavier items when necessary.

Vision Requirements

• Constant need to read and review reports, view a computer screen, and review correspondence.

• Frequent need to see small detail and review financial information accurately.

Hearing, Speaking and Written Requirements

• Constant need to receive or give instructions and communicate by telephone, email, and in person with staff, vendors, property teams, lenders, and other stakeholders.

• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Driving Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and car registration if driving for business purposes.
