Position: Boiler Installation Technician – Residential & Commercial

Location: Seattle, WA
Employment Type: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Compensation: $40–$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Position Summary
The Boiler Installation Technician installs and replaces boilers and associated hydronic heating systems in residential and commercial properties. This position requires hands-on installation experience, strong mechanical and piping skills, and the ability to complete safe, high-quality installations from equipment removal and preparation through startup, testing, and customer handoff.
Essential Responsibilities
Install and replace residential and commercial boilers, including conventional and high-efficiency condensing equipment.
Remove existing equipment safely and prepare work areas for new installations.
Install and modify hydronic piping, circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, air separators, controls, and related components.
Complete venting, combustion-air, condensate, and fuel-piping work within applicable licensing requirements and the assigned scope of work.
Read and interpret installation manuals, mechanical drawings, piping diagrams, and project specifications.
Verify equipment placement, service clearances, piping arrangements, and installation requirements before beginning work.
Perform system filling, flushing, purging, pressure testing, and leak checks.
Complete startup and commissioning, including control setup, safety-device checks, and combustion testing where applicable and authorized.
Troubleshoot installation and startup issues to ensure proper system operation.
Coordinate with project leaders, other trades, and inspectors to support timely project completion.
Explain system operation and basic maintenance requirements to customers.
Document installation details, startup readings, materials used, and project completion.
Protect customer property and maintain clean, organized work areas.
Follow manufacturer instructions, applicable codes, and company safety procedures.
Assist with service and repair work as business needs require.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience installing boilers and hydronic heating systems; three or more years of relevant experience preferred.
Residential and commercial boiler installation experience preferred.
Working knowledge of hydronic piping, pumps, zoning, venting, controls, and boiler system components.
Ability to use installation tools and testing equipment safely and effectively.
Ability to interpret technical instructions and troubleshoot mechanical and system-operation issues.
Strong workmanship, communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with installation crews.
Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements.
Applicable trade licenses or certifications required for the work performed.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work takes place in occupied homes, commercial buildings, mechanical rooms, and active job sites. Duties involve standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, using tools, and moving equipment and materials with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
