Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud-Native Architect based in United States.
This role focuses on shaping the architecture and evolution of large-scale cloud-native platforms built with modern distributed systems and container technologies.
You will define technical strategies for microservices ecosystems, helping teams build scalable, resilient, and maintainable applications.
The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-level transformations through architecture leadership, engineering standards, and technology innovation.
You will collaborate with engineering teams, security specialists, and business stakeholders to design solutions that support reliability, performance, and long-term growth.
The ideal candidate combines deep cloud expertise with strong architectural judgment and the ability to guide complex technical decisions.
This remote opportunity is suited for an experienced architect passionate about building the future of scalable cloud-native systems.
The Cloud-Native Architect will lead the design, modernization, and continuous improvement of distributed application ecosystems. This role requires strong technical leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on expertise to establish scalable architecture patterns and enable engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions.
- Define microservices architecture standards, service boundaries, and decomposition strategies using domain-driven design principles.
- Lead modernization initiatives by transforming legacy applications into independently deployable, well-structured services.
- Design service communication strategies using REST, gRPC, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Establish API governance practices, including contracts, schemas, and versioning strategies.
- Architect resilient distributed systems using patterns such as circuit breakers, retries, bulkheads, and graceful degradation.
- Define data ownership models, transactional boundaries, and distributed data patterns including CQRS, saga, and outbox approaches.
- Design platform capabilities including service mesh, API gateways, identity management, and observability solutions.
- Drive scalability planning, performance engineering, and capacity analysis for critical systems.
- Establish CI/CD, testing, and deployment practices that support safe and frequent releases.
- Define monitoring strategies using structured logging, distributed tracing, and service-level objectives.
- Partner with security teams to integrate zero-trust practices, secrets management, and runtime protection.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders on cloud-native best practices and architectural principles.
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide guidance across multiple development teams.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies based on business and technical value.
The ideal candidate brings extensive software engineering and architecture experience with a strong background in cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, and enterprise-scale application design. Success in this role requires technical expertise, leadership ability, and strong communication skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Eight or more years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in architecture roles.
- Deep expertise in microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and distributed systems patterns.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native platforms.
- Experience with service mesh technologies and modern application networking patterns.
- Proficiency in at least one major backend programming language such as Java, Go, or C#.
- Strong understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous communication models.
- Experience operating high-volume, production-scale systems with demanding performance requirements.
- Knowledge of major cloud platforms and managed cloud services.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and technical leadership skills.
- Proven ability to lead architecture initiatives across multiple teams.
- Experience with platform engineering and internal developer platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, Envoy, or similar service mesh solutions is a plus.
- Exposure to FinOps practices, cloud cost optimization, regulated environments, or technical thought leadership is advantageous.
- Competitive annual salary range of $100,000–$150,000.
- Fully remote work opportunity within the United States.
- Full-time position with opportunities for professional growth.
- Opportunity to influence large-scale cloud transformation initiatives.
- Collaborative environment focused on innovation and engineering excellence.
- Exposure to modern cloud-native technologies and complex distributed systems.
- Ability to contribute to architecture strategy and technical direction.
