Job Description
SUMMARY:
Facilities Maintenance Worker performs a variety of routine and semiskilled tasks involving general maintenance of City facilities, equipment, and grounds. Performs general maintenance and janitorial duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes but not limited to the following)
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and plumbing problems.
- Completes work, including carpet repair, painting, furniture repair and kitchen repair.
- Pressure wash parking lot walkways and buildings.
- Re-lamp throughout property as necessary.
- Performs regular maintenance duties as assigned, such as carpentry, carpet repair, plumbing and mechanical.
- Operates hand and power tools, steam cleaning and carpet cleaning equipment.
- Set-up for banquets, landscaping and office moves as necessary.
- Maintain grounds, including parking lot, and landscape areas.
- Requires a valid driver license to operate cleaning and maintenance vehicles.
- Must be able to operate scissor lift, forklift and other equipment. Must be able to be certified in scissor lift, forklift and other equipment.
- Depending on assignment, duties may include: making routine plumbing repairs (example: repairing leaks, unplugging toilets and drains, etc.); replacing light bulbs and fluorescent lights. Performing routine carpentry work (example: minor paint jobs, installing doors, door stops, cabinet doors, tile, adjustable shelving, setting forms for concrete, etc.); performing preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems (example: replacing evaporative cooler pads, belts, pumps, air filters, etc.); making roof repairs; installing glass, screens, refrigerators, and ranges; making minor grounds and landscape irrigation repairs; installing forms and header boards; grading dirt areas; and operating trenchers and soil augers. More difficult or skilled work may be performed under the direct supervision of a Facilities Supervisor or skilled maintenance worker. Specific duties performed may vary by assignment. This class performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Strong guest service as the employee will likely be interacting with guests when addressing maintenance issues.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and operate facility vehicles.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Preferred two years building maintenance experience with emphasis on a particular trade.
- On the job training will be provided.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
- Must be proficient in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Must possess basic math skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Lytton Tribal Gaming Commission gaming license at all times of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to lift, push, pull, sit, squat, stand and/or walk as well as working with hundreds of machines and/or drop boxes that will need to be opened, so upper body strength is required. Must be able to lift between 25 - 50 pounds frequently.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud, depending on equipment needed to perform functions.
- Should be able to adapt well to the casino environment, involving large numbers of people, loud and continuous high noise level. Must also be able to psychologically handle the concepts of persons occupying an establishment for the purposes of gambling, drinking, eating, and smoking for long periods of time.
