Section II: Summary of Job Function
Practice Assistant performs all patient related clerical duties necessary to assist the health care team to provide patient care. Acts as a liaison between patients and clinical teams. This includes but is not limited to maintaining physician schedule, typing, scanning, telephone triage, and other clerical functions relating to patient care. Ability to cross cover telephone assistant, pre-authorization, billing clerk, and check out.
A Practice Assistant, a typical day might include the following:
- Welcoming patients, families, visitors, and physicians while providing exceptional customer service
- Assuring a high degree of customer service including scheduling time, appointment wait time and registration
- Preparing, organizing, and completing paperwork to be sent overnight letter and maintaining log including confirmation receipt
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote efficient workflows including pathology, radiology, lab reports and referring MD notes
- Maintaining clerical operations within all modalities of the department
- Coordinating and developing schedule to ensure adequate staffing coverage
- Participating in process improvement and initiatives
- Supporting the daily operations of the department by maintaining supplies and ensuring an organized work environment

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School diploma and equivalent, college degree preferred. Preferably with clerical experience in health care and medical terminology. Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office and proficient computer skills. Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. Must demonstrate willingness to learn. Full Time, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
